PROJECT 2 FAST 2 FAT clicky
''lifes what happens, while your busy making plans''
Trackday prep.
New pads all round, trying out the DS3000's again as they are £100 cheaper than the Carbon Lorraines. GM rears.
I needed to fit my new front exhaust flexi, so thought I'd tackle the exhaust situation while it's off. Removed and backbox cut open to inspect:
Not much deadening left in there:
The small centre silencer has also somehow collapsed on the perforated tube. No idea how this happens but looks to be creating quite an obstruction.
So decision was made to remove it and replace with some straight pipe:
Tacked in place:
Access for re-packing the rear box was tight so the rest of the box outer was removed:
Acousta-Fil wadding, 400mm wide 2 metres ordered. This is supposed to expand with heat and deaden very well.
Used about 1.8 metres re-packing it around the perforated tube and tucking it in the box.
Welded everything up and gave it a waft of VHT paint:
While the welder was out I gave the centre box a little more support too, just cos.
Sound meter testing will be formally done on the next trackday (Rockingham 13th) but my unofficial testing looks promising. It's a 105dB day next so should give me a bit of wiggle room.
