What an incredibly clean crank shaft. This new engine is going to be perfect.
Mmmmm![]()
One day I'll start a build thread. One day...
Oooo very nice! Who's building it bud?
Thanks mate. Can't wait to see it on the dyno!! Both the guys think it'll be an absolute animal!!
It's being built at a company called Modus. 2 guys, as good as brothers, Jay and Darren, in their 40's been doing it since they were 15!!
Based in an old converted pig shed about 10 miles from my house, known them years!!
Very good reputation round our way. Expensive but you pay peanuts you get monkeys!!!
Ah nice one, best to stick to someone reputable that's knows their stuff even if it means paying more. As you said, you get what you pay for![]()
It's amazing how much serious work they've had to do to an engine that was "ready to be built" according to he who must not be named.
The block was scrap, it had all the wrong main caps, the crank wouldn't turn
The inlet valve seats weren't cut properly but all the valves were lapped in???
None of the throats had been blended properly
The CR was 13.2:1!!!
2 of the piston rings were damaged.
None of the rods, pistons or crank had been balanced, the crank hadn't even been polished
All the shells had deep score marks in them.
There were 2 snapped exhaust studs in the head
The list goes on & on & on &..... Well you get the picture!!
But he's a hero in certain circles, cos he built a powerful engine once or something!! I've tried warning people and just get told I'm an asshole and all he's trying to do is make a living and to give him a break so.......
Anyway, I'm not bitter!! Haha this engine has been a long time coming but it looks like it's finally going to be ready soon and then we can get hooning!!!!

Gonna be insane with this engine in after its all been set up. Going to struggle to keep up I think. You having a nice exhaust made?
Yes, there's a place Mike knows that build custom manifolds and full exhausts, will need that before mapping, but as discussed earlier it'll be in the new shell so the whole lot can go for manifold making. With a mock engine head and box, I wouldn't be sending this engine there to be buffered about with!!
