You could have grooves machined +8MM at each end of said shaft effectively making it 16MM longer like I did. ~ I'll have to post a picture of a hollow shaft when back from shot peening.

    Darn Novas, what a faff.

Nice write up & hopefully a longer shaft will stop you breaking it.

16mm may be a little too long. Did some basic maths to put the balls in the middle. 8mm at one end may work but would have thought it weakens it as much less going into the CV?

The back up plan is a spacer behind the CV to push that in a few mm.

When you look how far the shaft end protrudes once located on the standard groove, you'll see it was never right to begin with :0

Nice detective work. I hope a longer shaft fixes the issue.

@Iain , Are you using the camber plates to get a better angle on the GAZ Coils as I cant lower my springs as much as yours as otherwise they start rubbing in the tyre and the wheel, do you have the same issue as well ?

I run a 7" open spring to clear the tyre it sits just above the tyre.

Edit: I'm going to order some 6" for my next spring choice to have plenty of room

I always ran a 6mm thick washer on the inside of the hub to stop the excess plunge on my Nova. Wasnt running anything like the power you are though..

Good info Paul cheers, these shafts were custom made for me based on some other existing shaft dimensions so if I can it makes sense to fix it "properly" with a longer shaft. Seen a 10mm spacer on eBay meant for Saab converted Astras but would run into issues with the split pin hole there.
