i got tickets for my family to the big memorial service for richard III (the main cathedral thing was always vip's only). i'm not very religious, but when, ever will the british public actually be able to be involved in any form of royal funeral? the ticket website has been crashing non-stop since tuesday at 10am, because of unprecedented demand, and the IT people have been on it non-stop to get it fixed....my kids will be able to tell their grandkids that they were there. i think that is special. over the last 20 years i've been involved in all the building works to do with the battlefield visitor centre, and they are a great group of people. this event will be the biggest day of their lives.

so for 2 years I was "acting team lead" at work ,didn't get paid for it but thought the experience would be good, was told by management I was doing a good job and it would be mine once its advertised. so job was advertised just before Christmas and because I didn't score enough points in the interview I didn't get the job (its a job not a pub quiz)
Anyway a new bod got the job who was going to work wonders and sh*t cucumbers, now 3 months on my manager has come to talk to me in private saying new guys useless and cant do the job and would I be interested in it?

What made me happy was...

1,my manager saying we should have given it you, as you did the job very well, and in his words "just because someone interviews good, it doesn't mean they are any good"

2, me saying "hows about you stick the job where the sun doesn't shine, I didn't score enough points in ya pub quiz so go find some other mug"
3, him not rising to my out burst and just apologising

finally being let loose on warrant jobs again, my god I love it! everyone threating you and kicking off I was getting really bored fitting meters in normal houses with the nice normal hard working people of the world. now I have a court officer, locksmith and dog handler to chat to all day aswell :D
