Wow, the power of Google images! OK Stevie, thanks for the nostalgia trip for me and give my best regards to your dad, ace-mechanic Kenny!
These photos were all of the 1.3 Nova Sport (not an SR) we used in 1987, having won the Astra Challenge the year before. Officially the car was known ("homologated") as a Group A Nova Swing, following some problems getting them accepted for use in International rallies by the FIA, but we all knew them as Nova Sports, twin carbs and all.
As a team we were class winners in 5 of the 6 rounds of the British Open Rally Championship. The engine gave out on the first stage of the Manx rally, preventing a clean sweep, so Colin McRae took that one in his similar car. We also won the World Championship RAC rally too, finishing 17th(?) overall, and beating the Skoda team for the first time in 18 years. Warren was an exceptional young driver who enjoyed a good rally career and still runs the family Vauxhall dealership in Saltford. The bad news (for all of us) is that he turns 50 next year!!
Happy days and a wonderful little car

Do you still play with rally cars Duncan?

Sorry to revive an old thread. Does anybody have any info or contact with Duncan, would be good for my dad. I believe the nova had driveshaft issues issues on the man, rally. Cheers. Stevie
