So today was remove the root from under the ridge tiles on the roof. With the aid of a safety harness and some 12mm polypropylene rope, which I tied off to a wood telegraph pole, I made the climb to the top. I must admit this would not have been possible without a harness. After lifting the ridge tile where the root was sticking out, I soon realised the roots went in both directions deep within the brickwork. Everything just wobbled out.

there was not sand/cement holding anything as the roots and weather have eaten everything. It turned into a much bigger job than I thought!!!!!

i still haven't got all the roots out, but sprayed everything with root killer and I'm gonna chop the rest out tomorrow. Then I can start putting the brickwork back together and sourcing some 100year old roll top tiles to replace the damaged ones.

I'm well chuffed with my performance. The cheapest quote I got without realising how bad it was going to be was £1300. It would defiantly of got more expensive due to the damage.

she decided to go with a 'young farmers classics' playlist... me & her dad put up a quite good campaign to get tenpole tudor & the punk version of 'Nellie the elephant' included, but she wouldn't have either.. apparently young farmers pissups are somewhat more sophisticated events these days...

mine is that my eldest daughter & her mates played quidditch in the local country park. it was the 1st game of the season!!!!!
I was asked to provide goals, so I used gas pipe & re-bar. they assembled it all themselves & got some right funny looks & comments from the locals....
