    Just don't go cold turkey unless you want what is the roughest hangover ever for a week

    Did a 24km ( or 15mile for old people) hike, not bad for the first crack at distance walking before doing a hill in Scotland later in the month. Got heel blisters though

    i hope you didn't get convinced to buy ridiculously sturdy hiking boots?? the sort that old codgers wear when going round the park with their ski poles...... they cause tons of suffering & misery until you have toughened up... they are like the catholic church of boots

    i hope you really didn't

    think of it like this... what shoes do you wear all the time? i'm guessing soft & flexible ones that you can spend maybe 12 hours in them without needing a rescue helicopter, so having comfortable shoes that happen to have a bit of grip on the bottom sounds to me like a good idea, as opposed to something as bendy as a ski boot
