Decided to take the MR2 to York for a few runs now I've finished running it in. Ended up overheating after about 70 miles just as I came off the motorway. Let it cool down a bit and nearly made it home before it started overheating again.
Only seems to be overheating after prolonged driving at the same revs, been fine for a few months with varied driving so not a clue what is wrong with it. Pissed off to say the least.
Water pump?
All I wanted was a Pepsi, just one PepsiFar from suicidalStill I get them tendenciesBringing back them memories
That I really miss when I reminisce
But that's cause its working harder, at the l reve there might not be enough force to turn it.. Fixed a Corsa XE doi same. The impellers had come of the shaft..

get the rad flushed & swap the stat... also have a look at the expn bottle cap
Engine was rebuilt about 600 miles ago, however I didn't replace the water pump as it looked pretty new and they are not known for failure on these cars. Has metal impellers on this one, always had problems on pumps with plastic impellers.
This car has a pressure cap before the expansion bottle so bottle isn't pressurised. Tried swapping this pressure cap with the chargecooler one for the journey back as they are both the same, however made no difference.
Got a new rad sat around so will fit that and a new stat. Going to be a nightmare testing if I've fixed it as it only does it after about 60 miles on the motorway.
Lee, that's exactly wat my gt4 was doing before my radiator went, was fine around the town when just nipping about but on longer drives it was over heating.
