so, i was driving home down the A5. i passed a cyclist. ok. i gave him room & he was well lit, wearing hi viz. no trouble there.. as we approached a roundabout he was right behind me. he then turned his one & only really bright LED front light onto flash, and it was pointing straight at my mirrors... it was driving me potty.. so i slowed right down & opened the window so i could yell at him.. no response.. so i slowed down even more & let him alongside, & yelled at him to stop it.. nowt... so i pulled over, jumped out & grabbed his handlebars.. that stopped him.. then i told hiom that he knew fully well the light was both illegal & annoying the fook out of me, then simply pressed the button till it was on plain light, thanked him & drove off.

i really hate those flashing led lights, and especially when they flash in all 3 of your mirrors..

Least you saw him, that is actual assault btw and if youd have done that to me (i have strobing and fixed cree led lights front and rear on my bike) i wouldve sat you on your ar$e!

As a rider and a car driver i see both sides of the argument, but if his lights (which are not illegal btw) were annoying you, you shouldve gone a different way, stopped till he had gone, or speed up!

You do not have the right to get out and grab/stop/lecture any other rider/driver on the road, you are NOT a police officer, and WERE in the wrong in that scenario, i can only hope for the riders sake that he had a gopro and reports that!

he deliberately turned it to flash from fixed beam & it was set way too high.. he had ridden down 1 A road & onto another without needing it flashing, then when we were on a minor road in a slow moving queue, he chose to keep it flashing.. i asked him to do something about it, he chose to ignore me. it was flashing fast enough to be classed as a strobe light..

and i think you'll find that the law is that you can have a flashing light, but you must have a fixed beam light as the primary headlamp.

and the useless local cops are more than welcome round here, i was in a signwritten van & if they ring, i'll willingly speak to them.

and spud, when i ride my bike at night, i have hi viz on, legal lights & a helmet on. my kids do too, or i won't let them out on their bikes.

oh, and i forgot to add, the cyclist also chose to ignore the rather good cycle lane that the council made specially because cyclists demanded it

Id guess from that he had deemed you passed too close to him then and that was his way of protest, there is not much you can do as a cyclist when a car/van driver pisses you off, and then when you do something, and they try to intimidate you like slowing to shout at your or seemingly to corner you using the vehicle as a barrier, imagine what he was thinking, then to have you get out and give him a load of verbal, think about it from his side of it...!

And TJ, sod off youre not funny, and im not in the mood!
