cheers, ive seen a few like this. it had crossed my mind for structual integrity, im getting some large washers to inside the arch so the load is spreaded some more.

The 3M stuff is very good and very long lasting.

    update

long overdue update, was looking to get one more in before PVS as this has been the date I was aiming for as I wont have the car out too much this year, only for shows.
after selling my old trailer I bought another one, I couldn’t afford to buy something really trick so I had to settle for this.

its a bit rough around the edges but it will be ideal for the nova. I set about fixing/replacing/removing parts that just wont cut it. I took the trailer up to the local quarrie to see how much it weighed, came back at 580kg.
first things first was strip it down to remove some weight. removed all the scaffold boards from the middle and the rear girder which came in at a total of around 70kg.

modified the one mudguard so I can get in and out of the car

bought a new jockey wheel knob, wheel and hitch damper

as the trailer looks agricultural and manky I gave it a couple coats of hammerite
    .

First time I tried the car on the trailer I found more problems with running a car so low

    Damage caused

After refitting the above and painting the floor pan again the solution is to jack the front of the trailer up to avoid the scraping.

    Onto my helmet, he he.

I didn’t like the white the helmet was in so always planned to paint it, as I had some steel grey from my first nova left over I was going to do It that colour but changed my mind after I rubber it down.

Got hold of some plasti dip so a few coats of that made it look like this

Progress with the car now, as I had my ‘track’ number plate to swap over when I use it I wanted a way to remove the plate easily but also not look tacky like screws. The problem solved with Velcro.

Something I’ve hated on the car has always been the tyres, I did have 195/45/16 Uniroyal rainsport 2’s fitted but the sidewall looked huge, managed to get a deal with the toyo rep for a set of 195/40/16, got 4 t1r’s for the price of 2. Worked out to be £120 so was ideal. They look a whole lot better.

With my rad being moved back slightly to accommodate the intercooler, the turbo is going to radiate the heat onto the rad. I made up a little heat shield to help the situation out.

Over the past couple of weeks with running the engine up to temp and test runs, I noticed a loud whistling coming from the hose with the one way valve in. the one way valve I had in there was bought off eBay and is used for quite a few other jobs, I don’t know why it decided to start playing me a tune but I couldn’t have this. Benn happily sold me one he had so I didn’t waste time fitting it.

And painted up…fitted and no more whistling.

Through the one test drive I managed to break a inner cv joint on the n/s, as benn has also encountered problems of this nature I followed a few of his to try diagnose it. I first of all done the test to check how much plunge the inner joint has, this came back quite conclusive that I didn’t have a lot, in need to gain extra plunge I had 2 grooves cut into the shaft to move the cv joints further, thus lengthening the shaft. I gained 9mm off the shaft and 3mm off the spacer I now have fitted between the outer joint and bearing.

    Built back up

As the cars so low the angle of the shaft is still quite a lot, I havnt yet tested the car again, but I am on the look out for a spare shaft incase I break it at PVS, can do an emergency swap over.

Last week the car was taken to a local body shop to be flat and polished, something that was never done by the person who painted it. The guy made the best he could out of a bad job, the paintwork still isn’t how I want it but it will do for now. Ideally all the paintwork wants doing again as theres lots of it I hate, eg; spoiler paint cracking, o/s ‘b’ pillar bubbling, roof has dents in.

So please every body who sees the car at shows, please explain to people I know the paint is shxt.

The bumper has also been treated to new filler and being painted to collect this week, will get it fitted asap.

And finally, the gte decals havnt been on for around 4years now so Im so pleased to say there back on!
