So it was a beautiful day, clean skys so perfect time to take a few last pics... Then spend a few mins adjusting few pressure, car runs lovely. Get camera, have an hour pissing about as my batteries where dead, swap camera no memory card.. Final get sorted. Meet Petor, take a few nice pics..

Leave to come home, Pete's in front in his Monaro.. So put up case, catching him powering in to around about and do same, chase down duel carriage way and in to round around. Power in and get a funny noise.. Let of and drive gently.. All ok. Nail it in to short left hand on to another duel carriage way... Letting off at end start slowing down... Really loud grinding noise starts... 3mins from home so carry on very gently, going up hill noise gets alot worse, pull over. Everything looks ok thru wheels and such................. No wait!

Inner Cv again has ripped it's self to bit. Angle looks really bad there too.. Pi$S! Back to the drawning board there then.

    Was going great till then.

What CV's you using? IIRC you are using them with big block shafts right?

Was just reading all this on "another forum" - What are the engine mounts you're using; are they metalastic or standard with PU Sealant?

I've had all manner of issues with that CV too over the years, but what it always boiled down to is the amount of tilt the engine & box endures under load. I was actually breaking competition mounts and had that shortest driveshaft machined to effectively lengthen it once inside the CVs to help. The rear mount bracket was strengthened, checked throughly for location via it's spacer, welded up and the mount itself was reinforced.

With the position now perfect I wanted bomb proof so it could take the abuse all day; fabricated a fourth engine mount at the front to the cross member. Not looked back since; you can actually feel the difference in handling due to the lack of movement now.

I'm using standard mount with Sealant in.

I think, well i know the mount is clearly still in the wrong place. As Lee said where i had probs before. I think its to low (gear box) So what i need to do it unbolt it, but leaving the rest on, get the box in the right place so the shafts are straight as mine point up a bit and i think this one might point back a touch still too. Then mark and re drill the mount. Giving the box the better hight.

Love the front mount on yours, very much like mk4 Astras use. I always wondered why it's not used on other cars.

    Small update.

Stripped it all down, shaft came out leaving the cv join in there. Which i now can't get out.

Now here i'm confused, Everything is intact. Cage, two balls where lose in the cv, other came out in the cage. Not sure why it broke?

Spend the morning trying to remove the cv joint, cant get it to move at all. Bent a crow bar, broke my ball joint spilter. Still wont move. No clue now...
So moved on to the mount, to try and raise the engine.

    Unbolting the mount,

Took Lee's advice kinda, marked where the end needs to come off..

    Cut it off.

The bolted both bit's back on. Because i'm trying to raise the engine i had to cut the middle out a bit cause of the old holes to get it to line up, so it looks like a real bodge.

Worked out where everything needed to be, jacked it, checked it, re-bolded it, marked it, removed it, tacked it, retried it, removed it, welded it.

You can see the hole in the middle. eek.

Then found i'd run out of gas, so the welds arn't that pretty. But this is more of a template.

    Ground off.
