    Default welding advice

hi guys stripped the old girl back today to find out what i am to be dealing with well here we go

this is the drivers side inner arch with mullered splash guard

the drivers front inner arch to sill

on the rest of the sill there is one previous patch and this, i give it a good bashing and it seems solid

the next is the drivers side sill to rear arch

passenger side has no splash guard

    passenger sill has multiple patches

and finally the last part is my rear arches are slightly rusty on the lips but this has not made it up the arch.

i have a welder and i am practising currently so any advice would be great,

    cheers

I'm a welder, just take your time and keep the welder turned down low last thing you want is making more holes, the splash guards you can turn the welder up a tad and tack in place then fully weld it in sections like a 4-5inch run at a time, if you was closer i could of done it for you, if you need any more advice drop me a pm.

1st and most important.Learn to weld.
Then practice on scrap car metal,as that and clean steel sheet is very different to weld.

Also if you weld it right and have the welder set up right your weld should look like a row of coins, and when welding make sure you get as much paint off as possible and is clean from dirt and grease

What type of welder have you got? Have you got an auto darkening mask or hand held black glass jobbie?

    Sorted then.

I was half expecting you to say some sort of Gasless thing & sunglasses as thats what a lot of "I wanna learn how to weld" people have.

The sealey welder is not bad for what your doing and as for the sill's i would replace them and the splash gaurds you can make yourself buy using card then tracing round on a bit of zintec steel sheet
