Hi chaps,
So time to start an update then! Due to other things happening since I purchased this car I didnt have any major funds that I wanted to spend on it or a huge amount of time available for it either! But a while back I decided that It was about time I made a start....... First things first was to see how well I could bring the original paintwork back to life. I think Brian had tried with various polishes/waxes to keep the car tidy but what It needed was an in depth renovation to remove as much surface scratching/traffic film and so on as possible. Then I would know how little I could get away with painting or not If the case may be this year! After the car was cleaned I degreased It panel by panel to remove as much contamination/old polish/wax and so on as I could. This was followed by clay bar session using a 3m clay bar and soapy water in a squirty bottle to lube the surface at all times when claying..........
By the time all the claying was complete I could see I had quite a job ahead of me in order to get the paintwork up to scratch. So I made a start wet flatting using 2000/3000 to remove surface scratches and to flat down old touch ups too.........
Good old 2k solid colour!..............
This was a painstaking job and took weeks to do but I eventually got it all machined back up with great results.......
By the time a three stage machine detail had been carried out I sealed the paintwork and waxed it all up. Badges were removed from the rear and the original dealer plates that were on the car had seen better days so I got some more made up and fitted them to the car........
And back outside in the sun looking much better...........
