i don't think that they unions are labour controlled, or that the labour party are union controlled, i think its more of a behind closed doors partnership... but i still can't get away from the amazing parallels to 1979, when the tories took power from a labour party that had run us to the brink financially.. then we had transport strikes, coal miners strikes, riots etc... so they set about getting rid of the huge all powerful unions, and also killed off our massively innefficient nationalised industries...

fast forward to the modern day, and the public sector workers strike didn't really stop the country dead , so they are trying the fuel delivery unions, and the govt. is trying to make efficiency savings in the nhs & benefits sectors, which if not done, will cripple us forever, so i expect more of this crap to follw

Where ever they are all Unite want to do is strike ffs, they took over the union at work, company offered use a pay rise this year, 2.5%, i think were were lucky to get that given the economic situation and would mean £75 per month extra take home

Unite said no strike if your don't get 5% ffs, after that crap I told them they can forget there £11 per month, complete jokers the lot of them imo

My old place of work offered 4.7% one year and the union said "NO we want 4.8%" I worked it out that wouldn't cover union dues .... FAIL for membership rallying.

    hinckley is queuing too!!!!!

i just can't imagine what it will be like when the idiots actually go on strike!!!!!

there was an item on radio 5live yesterday where they were trying to understand the fuel storage rules, cos the fire brigade union has pitched in with some right cobblers........ i am actually quite an expert on them because some ar$ehole tried to stop our local garage selling more than 10L to anyone with cans because they also supplied mallory park competitors & race school with fuel, and this tit tried to annoy them as much as possible... but when we needed to buy a load of fuel on our account to run a large honda water pump, they wouldn't let us... so pedantic man donned his cape & went in search of justice & won...

rules are this..... you can only keep 10L of fuel stored in your own home...(rule from the 1920's !!!!!FFS) but if you need the fuel for your work, like we did, and use permitted cans, you can buy & carry any number of cans in any road vehicle (source, leicestershire police officer in charge of moving hazardous goods)... but if you need to store them, you need a fireproof store that is 6m away from any ignition source.... which we have... so if any of you get some jobsworth trying to put a stop to you purchasing cans of fuel, quote this & then point the idiot at trading standards (who actually control the sale & storage of fuel). pedantic mans work is done here....

ps. i convinced the garage, and they started selling fuel, and when the ar$ehole came in to complain, they told him to FRO

I was hoping this would hold off til June as it would be a legitimate excuse not to go to work

No (not yet), although these days there doesn't need to be

That happened here in 2000 - one local station whacked the price up to £2 a litre (bearing in mind, back then it was ~90p a litre). Once the strike/blockade was over, it went out of business

Makes you wonder, all the terrorists/haxxors/chinese/etc have to do is start a rumour about fuel strikes and the country falls over

the tanker drivers are on overtime this week getting all the fuel out!!!! as the budget had no immediate price rise, there was no rush to fuel, so they are still getting their bonus this month.
