Why not just buy some female rjs and screw them on with a locking nut?
Why not just buy some female rjs and screw them on with a locking nut?
Cos:
1) The female RJs are usually too short, although this could be overcome by using Corsa steering rod which is 3cm longer.
2) The M12x1.5 thread is an unusual size which limits your choice especially if you want a 'high misalignment' rosejoint
I had priced up some suitable female ones but they came in at around £30+VAT each, so figured this solution would be best as it should in theory bolt straight on.
They're going back to Compbrake anyway and I'm going to try and mod the hub for inverted standard TRE.
TREs returned, going to get the taper inverted in the hub I think.
A couple of pics of what I've been doing lately...
New spherical bearings in my tie bar brackets. For anyone wanting to order some they had GEG20ES-2RS stamped on the original ones and are the larger outer diameter ones (42mm)
I've heard these are prone to cracking so got myself a TXAutosport pipe:
Fitted, bit of bling behind the mass of pipework!
Spare cam cover, belt cover and plug cover cleaned up, also ground the plug cover flat:
Sneak preview of my scenester new look
Put on the back burner for now as I've rebuilt the suspension with the original shafts, but I'm building up some new hubs using the Audi/Golf Synchro bearings. New unmachined hub vs one machined to fit a Nova bearing:
Knuckles, hubs and Audi bearings ready to go to the machinists:
For anyone wanting to join me I'm booked onto the following trackdays:
9th April - Blyton Park - Full day open pit
30th May - Cadwell Park - Fully day open pit

Cool sounds good, Nova Ian and a few other local mates are going too.
Smashed my old header tank so sourced a brand new old stock GM one, ooh clean and white:
And time for a new look in the bay. Old covers off, still looks nice and clean under there:
New covers on, look OK...
