    Cool The Dervalier

Been a while since I've had a WIP thread, and I'm bored.

Bought this from Dave Fox in April 2011 after much convincing from Mr Spudly, who then kindly babysat it for a couple weeks til I could venture into the wild wild norf with Mr Lee to come collect. In the meantime he gave it a good valet and fixed a couple of small outstanding issues. So it was looking like this:

And here we are prior to collection:

As you can see, Lee was ecstatic to be in a Cav

A quick overnight stop in Hendrixland gave a double cav opportunity:

..and cav got a little over excited

After a nice economical float back down south we swap the wheels over with the Nover:

I'm not convinced tbh but it was on the floor with the slabs so the bigger tyres lifted it up a bit . Anyways. Second thing to do, install the audio removed from the Novinder:

and also intalled some additional tube lighting in the boot (I'll get a pic of that later, its ace ). Boaty tyres didn't really suit it as much as they did the Novargh, so off they came in favour of some 16s from Mr Craig:

Whilst at VBOA, also purchased some new style GB reg plates to tidy up the front and back. Removed the Cavalier GSi 2000 badge and replaced with some chips from Mr Sturge:

Did a bit of work on the front, removed the bumper to sort out the foglights, replace the leaky rad and expansion tank, replace broken fan switch, replace the cam cover gasket and replace the broken PAS mount. Found a rare optional extra too LOL

Unfortunately the NS bumper bracket died in the process:

    Mmmm dirty

Old rad was easy to get out, new rad was a pain to get in... eventually managed to fit it, only to realise I'd forgotten to put the intercooler in as well. Oops! Also fitted some HIDs and LED sidelights - the HIDs didn't really work at all so they quickly got pulleed back out again. Looking quite green here

Fitted the tow hook cover there too as supplied by Mr Craig. Knowing BMW lamps worked with HIDs in the Nova, I fitted some Morettes and put the HIDs back in

    Fail with the cibie lamps:

Sourced some BMW laps from Mr MK999, but turned out they wouldn't fit in the housing without much effort so gave up on that idea. As the Morettes gave a shat light output on dipped beam, decided to go back to stanard lamps but have a go at tinting them first. Discovered that the pre-facelift lamps had a metal bulb shield in which the post-facelift lamps didn't have, so used those as I knew that would help make them usable with HIDs again.

However, the pre-facelift indicators refused to come apart, so I had to use the post-facelift ones and stick the matching glass onto the headlights.

And here's the light output. Crappy phone cam pic, its hard to get the colour to show up properly as most of the time it looks too green/blue... but this is kinda like it:

Note beam pattern is actually usable now too LOL Next things on the list is a new exhaust and I'm on the lookout for some new wheels
