hazards flashing non vauxhall

my mates 1999 audi A6 has a bit of a problem

since last week as soon as he turns the key on his hazards start flashing all the time

the car drives fine and no other problems apart from that

any ideas?

the flasher switch/relay in middle of dash. pretty much same as nova. change that and it should cure it, VAG are common for this.

so is it the actualy hazard switch or a relay connected to it or are they all the same thing
