Most of you know i chopped my finger off when i was 16 on my aprenticeship, well i was clearing some junk out and found som pictures, i still cant find the ones they took in surgery....
This one was about 6 months afterwards.
Basically chopped straight through my Right index finger and had to take it to hospital in a bag of frozen peas, they replanted the finger in a 12 hour operation.
Had a nerve transplanted from one side of the finger to another and 3" of vein taken out my wrist to feed into the finger to give it a blood supply.
In total there were around 120 stitches holding the outside together with a further 200+ holding the nerves and veins inside together (obvoiusly disovable ones)
There was also about 4-5" of metal coiled around holding the bone together until it knitted back, i had a follow up opertaion in 1999 to remove most of the wire although he couldnt get it all out as some bone had grown over it.
