Default Rear drums - shoe spring

I'm building up my rear drums with new shoes, springs, etc. Using Mintex shoes and a Mintex shoe fitting kit.

The old one looks like this:

Everything goes together ok except the bottom spring looks different (assume it must be the bottom spring as it was left over, and it's shaped perfectly to go over the lug on the backplate)

Anyone seen one like this before, and will it be okay to use?

    Cheers!

There's also two of these which I have no idea where they go

Edit: on my old shoes they go BEHIND the weird shaped bracket on the top right WTF

Balls balls balls, figured this one out with Haynes's supplement section.

I'm using 1991 Nova backplates (off my old car), but ordered 1993 shoes and fitting kit (using my '93 Nova's reg). They changed the backplates and shoe design post '92! Grrrrrrrrr.

    Here's a post 92 setup:

Those little clips apparently sit on the lug on the shoe that the adjustment mechanism army thing goes on. Found a pic of them in the Haynes supplement. Frick knows in the point of them tho.
