Default What to do what to do

Cant sleep so been browsing stuff and just remember my car insurance runs out in September, the car isn't going to pass its mot in November not a chance, needs too much welding for which I (read Gareth_C) aint got the time or patience to do, anyway to the point.

I was pondering would it be worth insuring it for two months then cancel the insurance policy, or put it up for sale (with some spares) as it has plenty of tax on it (4/5 months approx cant remember exactly) or should I strip it and sell/scrap the shell.

I would like to see it get used again as I've seen people rescue worse Nova's than this, would need one hole fixing (the usual spot by the rear wheel/bottom of arch) sills are bubbling and some engine bay attention.

Or should I go to sleep? Answers on a postcard please.

Edit: Either way I'm going to be car less for a while til the SR is done

First it needs a lot of welding, then your description of where makes it sound like the opposite.

Too many people with Novas are scared of a bit of welding, when they should quite honestly expect to have to do some. You've got plenty of time to sort it out - just do a little bit at a time, sort out any bits which actually would be an mot failure first, leave the cosmetic issues if time really is such a problem. Its not like breaking a nova for parts is something you can start and be done with in an afternoon - theres plenty of hassle involved there.

As above, I'd do the essential must do then plug away at the rest,

pick one area to weld, work on only that area untill it's Finnish then move to the next bit and complete and so on,

yes it's slow and can be a real ballache but when it's done it doesn't need done again.

IMO try harder to learn to weld, it's a great great thing to be able to do, it takes practice and time but it's not imposable to learn.
success is only limited by a weak mind

This is my everyday car, which I use everyday for work commuting/seeing mates etc (SD&P), I aint got time to take it off the road and get it welded up while my OTHER Nova is in Gareth's garage, especially seeing as the engine may need to come out to get to some bits (MAY need to come out, be sure to read that) and the main areas that come to mind are, will need the hole mentioned fixed (may need full sills) around the strut tops, the chassis legs are crusty, firewall and the battery tray was bodged, rear arches, and god knows where else as I aint really checked this car over for a while.

As I've said above mate, its not really an option, I've got no where to keep it while the work is done and Gareth is already welding up one of my cars, I cant see him being to happy to find and weld my other one and his lass certainly wouldn't approve. The only options are the ones listed.
