any updates shaun, how you getting on with the van
right.... This went straight through an mot..
but i then drove it down the road from mot centre, and within 2 mins of driving the driver side wheel bearing had collapsedso i set about getting a new bearing pressed in etc and then all seemed fine... drove 2 mins down the road and it collapsed again
very very pissed off with it at this point, i stripped all the 5 stud gear off and is now sold...
I set about some new wheels and got offered these from a mate:
all good, i was thinking satin black with a yellow lip... but 7j and et 24 =
they fitted on fine, but the wheel would hit the rear arch if i was to go over any bumps
i now aquired a set of cav slabs through hobbit, cheers fella
not my ideal choice of wheel but gets the car moving :s
Does anyone know of or heard of people machining the rear inside of the wheel to reduce the offset? there is plenty of meat there, im just unsure if it can be done. them bbs wheels look cool with stretched tyres on![]()
With the wheel bearings.
When you pressed them in, did you back press the outer race?
AKA, the 2 inner races are touching?
Was the 5 stud setup machined perfectly?
And seriously, how did it pass an mot with a bearing that bad![]()
yeh bearings were fitted by the garage...
when they fitted them, the wheel all clamped together fine and spun etc as should. as soon as i drove it, they killed themselves
i got the 5 stud setup machined to match my 4 stud hubs... the 4 stud fit and work fine though
very strange
