I was thinking that!
Most trades are £150 minnimum and labour's £75ish
I see it as extra money and more importantly tax free tbh.Originally Posted by mowgli

i just think about the white/brown envolope at the end of the job, that spurs me on
edit ben if you were in my area id come sort your yard out no problem, but bristol is a little far away from me im affraid
also when you mention trades rates, you have to remember that you also pay for the boss and probaly his boss who sits there twiddling there thumbs while counting his pound notes

No i got a lot of friends who are chipies, plasterers, general builders etc and all work on minnimum of £150 a day and a few who charge £250-350 a day.
80 a day? For a paver? A 'proper' paver? Way too farking cheap.
F*ck that, neither me nor anyone I know in the building/construction trade would get out of bed for that.
yeah a proper paver!the "same" line of work i do for my boss(also a plant op)Originally Posted by sulphur
i guess you are not reading the story i wrote, and just the "£80" part of it
i work through word of mouth or a local phonecall through the paper of which i recieve enough phonecalls to probaly start up myself, but as i say it gets me out the house on a weekend earning "TAX FREE" money most jobs i do are only4-5 days(two week ends) at most.so if im happy the costumer's happy then who gives a fcuk tbh Lol
i get a good wage from my boss plus £160+ from "foreigner" work so im more than happy.i have a good portfolio of all my work for the customer to see and choose from.
i dont go out and kill myself 9am-3/4pm say and when i do work the longer hours its only to finnish off.
makes me laugh tbh, you say your on £150 a day? is that after tax or before?
because tbh i dont know many people who are on £150 a day after tax laying block paving/flagging!
the odd few i do know have there own set up and are the "boss" of there set up!.

No no, I read your post, twice actually. I understand the 'tax free' 'extra money' part, that's why we all do the weekend work. Still think you're way too cheap, but if you're happy to do it for that then fair play I guess.
I never mentioned my wage, I've no need to, I'm not making a comparison.
Guy just called and said £3500-4000 depending on exactly what i want, pretty much what i was thinking, certainly dont think its over the top.

twisty, there's only one person winning with those rates, the customer........
ok, if you cost yourself at £80 the day, then you have the cost of your tools, which are still being worn out..
then your bosses minidigger & kit that he has supplied should be costed out at the going rate......
it might be easy money to you, but you are simply pricing too cheap
my charge out rate on general groundworks is £20+/hr, but I run an L200 truck full of kit in with that.
