mine went up 10% for no good reason... unfortunately it was still the cheapest

Surely as with insurance companies that cover mortgages, you can chase down the uninsured/fraudulently claiming mofos and get the money back from them. Even if it means bankrupting the ****s.

A few years ago I had a Cavalier SRi with More Than. The renewal came in at about £850 up from £550. I phoned them and they wouldn't budge.

I shopped round for quotes and put the same details into their website...... quoted £600 quid, which was an increase but still easily the best price. I cancelled the renewal over the phone and then bought it online.

    Go figure

both my cars are modified so i'm a bit stuck as to who will cover me, however that doesn't stop me picking up the phone twice a year and ring everyone to get the price as low as i can (and give Ollie a hard time ). I've always paid less each year for insurance, unless the policy has changed and even then i'll do my best to get to a price i'm satisfied with.

I've done this before too; this confirms there is a tax for being loyal or lazy however you look at it.

The automated renewals are inflated above their true cost regardless of claims to the contrary and justifications for IME; it must be worth it by virtue of the amount of people just going for it and renewing automatically or it wouldn't happen. Until such time when it becomes not worth it due to people leaving (which may be never) the situation will not change.

I've never had this problem, i'm with swiftcover, and had cheaper car insurance year on year, i just did a quote for when i get the nova legal, and its cheaper than the mazda! i should have hoped anyway

there is a tax for being loyal, i found getting a quote rather than taking up the renewal quote saved me £60

and checking out the modified (everything including the engine) go compare came back as £390 with flux-direct

But then we pay £10 to insure 500bhp cars, where as they pay £3,000 to insure 1.0's. So its not all bad
