    Default engine number query

where do i stand with this little situation:

bought 1600 gsi engine off my mate a few years back wrote down the engine number off his v5 (geordie chris's nova when it was white) with the intention of sending the logbook off with all the details, well when we were fitting the engine i cleaned up the engine number(hard to read) but my mate who was helping put it in (being ex vaux mechanic) recognised either 4444 or 7777 which is what reconned engines from vauxhalls were stamped? what should i put on my v5 the original number from the doner car (which was never updated) or just send off with the 7777/4444 code?

    cheers for any help

    Phil

    It doesnt matter tbh.
Grind it off & put on your date of birth or summat.

Just make sure the V5 matches & you are fine.
