Turrets got finished at the rear along with all other welding the other week
I decided not to have the whole thing media blasted as I just couldn?t justify the cost right now with moving house. Plus it would of been a lot of faff putting it back on wheels to put on a trailer to then put back on the rotisserie for the blaster, then back on wheels to trailer home to only have to put back on rotisserie again! So I just spent all of last weekend taking everything back to bare metal and given it a good rough surface for keying.
Dad and I starting spraying on Monday but ran out of cans doh! So I?ve re-ordered more but in normal tins for use in a spray gun. We will be hopefully getting a couple of full coats on tomorrow. I will then start bolting parts on the weekend after giving, it a full week to cure. Car should then be ready for moving and storing at its new home without rusting away on me!
More pics tomorrow
Yes!!!!
Well it is painted!
But what a ballache it was! The stuff is pretty thick and shouldn?t have thinners added and if so, no more than 5%. Dad?s Machine Mart spray gun struggled with it. Needed a bigger nozzle size I think. We had the regulator up to 50psi just to get it out. It would spray but quite stop start so was hard to do long runs. He persisted tho and he did a pretty good job to be fair. It?s not an easy thing to clamber around!
Our make shift spray booth did ok but there was quite a bit of overspray on the frame but I?ve just buffed it with a microfibre and most has come off to a more consistent, light textured finish.
Give it a week to cure now then I?ll start putting it all back together ready for the move.
Love that, this is gonna be epic when it's done.
I'm guessing you've found somewhere to move to with a good workshop space??
Thanks House.
Nope to the workshop.
Current digs has a single door garage but it is 1.5 garages wide inside, which is great (can probably see this from my pics). There is also a room next door to that the size of a single garage that is my tool & store room. I also have a couple of sheds for overflow crap.
New house just has a single garage.
I?m hoping that with most stuff back on the nova I can get it into the garage along with a couple of workbenches & my tool chest, but it is hopeful! Everything else will go into the two sheds I?m bringing with. Come Spring, the plan is to build a simple shed on to the back of the garage to create a tool & store room. Then further down the road as money allows and subject to being able to buy a bit of extra land from the neighbour, build a nice big double garage on the side/back of the house.
Nice result! I can imagine the trouble you face when climbing all over the bars to lay down the paint. End result is worth the effort though.

One day I'll start a build thread. One day...
Paint is nice and cured so re-assembly has started! Just wish it was final assembly with all clean parts I had considered just giving some bits a quick wire brush & hammerite but it?s just a waste of time and paint as it will be getting upgraded. So stock bits will do for now!
I approve of all of this!!!
