    Default head unit??

    does the addition of a non factory fitted head unit affect insurance? i's not a particularly expensive unit should i declaire this?

    i doubt it, unless u have a mega expensive system, some insurers cover for stereos anyway i think

    ^ yup check with insurance first. If you look in your documentation it might say, most offer cover of around ?100 for audio equipment though.

    most big insurance companies will not charge for head units or after market speakers (sensible ones) because its a "normal" mod. Its the same with your basic alloys - all new cars pretty much have them now.

    Check your schedule for the cover you have for stereo equipment - if the cover is less than the value then I'd call them to change it.

    Its always best to notify your insurer of ANY changes - if they have it on record and it gets nicked then you can claim for it and may get the same one back...they may ask for receipts...most just pay out.
