Where else can you look for cheap cars, folk won't pay to advertise them on the likes of pistonheads and auto trader

That's a common misconception. Most garages have Autotrader accounts and will put their trade in's on there for a bit before sending them to auction.

Just because it's not good enough for the pitch doesn't mean it's a bad car.

My vectra sxi is a car that goes on and on. Bought it four years ago, just get in and drive it no bother whatsoever. Be a shame to see it go tbh.

They're over there with their new toys. Someone brought them in. No idea who bought them though.....

think this would be my first port of call also.

as for for mk4 golf if think you'd have to nearly double the budget to get a decent one of those with fair mileage and service history. I had one that had done 70k and when things went bits weren't the cheapest.

Bros just brought a Mk4 Astra 1.8 SRi taxed and tested for £400 and loves the thing, had it 3 weeks and cant help but rave about it which considering his pride and joy is his Ph1 172 means quite a lot, i think its a woeful barge though

I myself would get a 1.4 8v Corsa B, Auto if possible, Excellent daily comuter that costs stuff all tax and insure, goodish on fuel and cheap as chips on parts, you can change the cambelt in your lunch hour and they make novas seem a mission

and i honestly wouldnt have a diesel for a chep car, something like a turbo goes wrong, even if using used parts you wont get change from £150 on the cheapest of cars
