i'm typing it slowly so you understand it...
you didn't know why he was working it out into dollars
the reason for this is that he sold the series format to discovery/quest/whoever in the us after having done the original series in england where he traded up from nowt to a new car.....so he was working it out into dollars because the show is for the american market & the americans use dollars
thus its a reasonable explanation why it gets on your moobs...

I assumed it was because he was going to finish the series in America, can get a lot of car for not too much money....compared to the UK anyway.
Correct though it is unbelievably annoying.
According to Mike Brewer.
They're dealing in US dollars as he's trading all over the world, and keeping everything in Dollars makes it easier to compare how much he's spending.
He hates it too, but that's what he's been told to do by Discovery.
Did he? What was that called?

Hi All, yes I've seen all the comments made about the dollar stuff in Trading Up...please...it's not my FAULT. Discovery have made this as a global show to play out in every territory and they consider the $ to be a global currency. I converted from £'s every time in the show yet a lot of you somehow didn't hear that! Anyway next week I'm in Sweden and I have to convert Krona into $, I bet then you understand. I expect a lot of comments but I can't do anything about it. All I try to do its to give you guys entertaining TV and I work really hard 7 days a week at it. Discovery call the shots.
amazingly it was called wrecks to riches & actually ran on itv1

and yes i did watch it
ps. mike did an awesome documentary about a chinook helicopter [bravo november] it basically single handedly won the falklands war, and is still in service... jack has probably had to play with its software at some point...my point is that given a decent subject, the man can produce a good tv show
