Check that first, as its not always as good a saving as it costs to do. But worth looking into.

TBH, 9k is about right for a first year - I covered well over 10 in my first year as I just wanted to drive everywhere.

Try adding parents or other more experienced drivers as second drivers. Forget modifications, and perhaps look at semi-new cars with tiddly engines. Also have a look at the postcode lists on here to give you a rough idea of how good your area is.

At the end of the day though I still reckon you'd be paying well over a grand, probably more like £2k for a first year cover. Insurance has become absolutely rediculous in the past few years - I made a thread a while ago where I tried to find the cheapest insurable car for a 17 year old, and couldn't get lower than £2k

i got told 25 make big differance to but not a differance at all i used adrian flux for all my nova they seemed the best and as there more modded cheaper it seem to get

25 used to, My insurance dropped by about 20%/£120 when I hit 25.

Now it seems it makes sod all difference Mind you, I'm paying around the same price now to insure the Celica then I did 3 years ago.... but that does include adding Hayley and a handful more mods.

How much is insurance for a nova when its modified? I will be 21 for my next renewal with (hopefully) 3 years no claims and only have a little 1.2 nova with basic mods like suspension and alloys and exhaust system and lights.
