    i know it would never be lightning mcqueen but what mods can you do to make it that bit nippier

    Powerbox, Cams, Exhaust. Might just see it over 100bhp.

    Otherwise TB's, Bike carbs etc, with management for the coilpack.

    A powerbox should see you cleanly past 100bhp IMO.

    CP's old engine was a highly tuned 1400 16v if you want inspiration. You could always add a turbo also. Possibly the best 'road tax band' scam you could dodge in a Nova, getting max available bhp in the under 1400cc tax bracket.

    Dont just concentrate on power though. A car with proper suspension setup & a diff would be quicker through an interesting road than a car with 15-20bhp more.
