i have ran vectra v6 calipers and fiat coupe discs on my old gsi nova, no need for spacers
im well impressed mate.
Close, as the pistons on the outside, and it's the pad thats on the carrier side (part of caliper that uses the sliders) as the offset was not right they were being kept against the inside of the disc,so when the piston side let go,the carrier side would not fully retract etc. :)Quote:

The pics show how the offset was before, and how it is now after the spacing.

lol if i ever get as bad as you or rick, then maybe!Quote:

Mine weren't too bad until I fitted the rear disks and then I think it became too much for the Nova master cylinder to cope with.
So after finding out that Chris 16v had fitted a Ford wiper unit (in a bodged way) I decided I wanted to try fit some sort of better single wiper conversion, so I went for the AX bracket and linkage.
This is, or can be a straight swap as the motor’s are the same on nova’s, but as I mentioned mine now had a ford motor/wiring mounted to a ford bracket, so this meant I was left wondering how to get round it, so I thought I would use the ford motor in the AX bracket, but meaning I have had to extend the wiring.

So here's my alterations including a small mount bracket i made from an old fiesta mk2 bit i had for 10 years ago! lol

Left it all trial fitted and packed up as was getting dark, choped the plug off and headed in doors to extend the wires.

Heat shrank round them! J'D for today, i'll join it up tomo.

I am pleased to say the motor works!
But not so pleased to say the wiper wont work as nob head opened up the hole on the linkage to fit the ford motor and now it's not gripping, so I'll have to weld a washer onto it or something! lol
Do that later or tomo as it's raining now.
Scott
Good work. Hopefully you can get the linkage working right :)
you should of said before starting all this mate as i should be off to the breakers this week and could of got you the zx linkage and ive got a propper nova motor some were in the lock up lol.
you could of had it for free.
So after ealier's cock up i rushed over to my mate Mike's (mikec123)
I took an assortment of washers and nova odds and sods to try rectify the linkage hole i drilled out to big.
So i found an old nova wiper arm end, welded the AX one to it, then hack sawed it off (i learned to weld *ish* as well) lol so it's not amazing but it's done the trick!
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1201/dscf0226small.jpg
This ment it was working :) then i noticed the wiper arm was catching slightly on the window rubber, so i remover the arm and got modifying it!
http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/4462/dscf0230small.jpg
Hack sawed two bits off either side that touched the window rubber.

Some quick vids of it working.

Nice even big swipe! :thumb:

So...now i can rip out that ****e ford bracket!
And to get the washer jets working again.
Scott
Cheers dude, done now! ;)Quote:

Scott
nice work on the wiper but check this out for a full single wiper sweep on my bad boy lol.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENEB1L3BhpM
It's about the same mate, though mine is set to sweep it's max over the drivers side, I didn't do to bad eh! lol
Still need to do
Washer jets/lines??
Heater motor.
Then ive got a few things pland for inside.:thumb:
mine is at full sweep both sides as it cant go any firther as the blade is already hitting the rubber lol
Nice to see your getting on with it mate.
Well got F'all els to do lol
Tomo's plan, my mate's bringing the welder over and we are welding up loads of holes that Chris 16v left in the floor! lol
So as said Mike came round today and we got busy with welding the holes Chris 16v had left all over the floor
(i wanted these done as not sure how the M.O.T tester would look upon them)
First off...out with the seats
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9...f0233small.jpg
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/7...f0235small.jpg
As the sun was out in force (felt more like May) and it was just gone 1.00pm we had a lunch time tea and bickies! *MAN'S TEA* lol
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9...f0234small.jpg
Back to the car!
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/6...0236smallv.jpg
Hole's before any welding, just sanded back etc.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/1...0237smallv.jpg
Used some washers i had kicking about to over lap the hole then weld round them, and in them, i had a go on some of them, but mike did most, the welder kept playing up, either bad earth's or wire feed played up..grr
Can see also a patch we had to put in to cover a hole on a tricky bit.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/5...f0239small.jpg
Close up of one of them done.
http://img520.imageshack.us/img520/9...f0240small.jpg
So that's most of the drives side done (bar one near the front leg of cage, and one near the fuel lines)
Either do the passenger side tomo or at weekend.
Scott
Looking kool.
What were the holes for? Sorry if you already said.
No idea! im guessing they were a combination of bolt in cage, and bolt in eyelets for harnesses.
All i do know is they made my floor look like swiss cheese.
So after going to my missis siters today to fit her a new fireplace, i got an hr on the car before it was dark!
*WARNING* im not much good with the welder, only started yesterday lol
Got that small hole on drivers side by the cage leg done
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8417/dscf0242small.jpg
Another from that side i didnt do yesterday.
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/8219/dscf0241small.jpg
Passangers side by cage leg.
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/566/dscf0243small.jpg
All from today on passanger side.
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/363/dscf0244small.jpg
Then after i had done these i noticed two more feckers hiding under the seat mount!
http://img91.imageshack.us/img91/5151/dscf0245small.jpg
Heyho more to do....
Scott
arrhh two more! not bad!:thumb:
Looking good dude. Welding isnt bad (better than my bird turds lol)

i love the colour of the car, its shouting out at me to get mine done that colour
So after ianel asked about the internal selector i checked mine over and decided to cut more out of it, as i had noticed before when trying to get into reverse gear it would not be easy, and the leaver would pop back off the rev/lip thing etc.
So here's a pic or two for you.
Before i cut and butchered it lol

So, i noticed it was hitting, and rubbing on the cut out, I'm not saying Dar got it in the wrong place, as I'm sure he didn't, but car engine mounts, hight, positions might make this vary, so there is not perfect right or wrong..
So i got some snips out, cut a bit out (till it got to double skin) and bent it slightly with mold grips, I'll be covering it over with some rubber or something, so it don't need to be pretty.
http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/9574/dscf0254small.jpg
That's made it fit loads better now, oh also mesured up and this what i think is about right to cut out to.
Measuring from the weld/ bulk join back it's 20mm to first pen mark, then from the same bulk join the bottom mark is 140mm

PS: more update later, as got to rush out!
nice bit of bodging mate.
You make me feel proud lol
lol cheers dude, loads more to come too!
