Looks shit hot Edd, nice work. I hope you get the we niggles sorted out.
Bay looks great, so much more tidy with the loom tucked away.
Didn't know you ran a Corsa servo... Nice lil mod, will you removed the old bracket from the servo?
Atm the coil is mounted on the old servo bracket, I also need to fit in somewhere a vacuum manifold and oil catch tank, so that area will change
The bay does look better yes, but looking at it I can't see much at all I'm happy with
Don't like the silver painted top half of engine as the paint is coming off
Rocker cover needs restoring
Wiper motor needs re doing
Etc etc etc
I'm not at all happy with the bay yet tbh, so much so I won't take any close up pics lol
I did the Corsa servo for a few reasons
Better breaking
Hate all the pipes
And rust was coming through on the original rear battery bracket that could of only been sorted by removing it
I've ordered new genuine CTS, stat and FPR to see if that sorts the idle out
Also looking for a new ICV to rule that out, if anyone can help me with finding one that would be great
What's in the ECU, does it need a remap on the chip maybe to get the fuelling right? Could be talking garbish.
Tbh a lot of stuff can wait
Sorting the idling and getting the paint done is priority atm
True.
Hey Edd your car looks nice! Forget about competing with other sports! This is your sport and car. It doesn't have to look the same and run like the rest. Forget about any blemishes! No car is blemish free! Just make sure it runs sweet :thumb:
Car looks stunning edd
Fitted new genuine CTS and stat today
Made NO difference, still ticks over at 1900rpm :(
Fcuk knows what is a matter with it
Now trying to find new genuine ICV and FPR to see if that sorts it
Rapidly running out of ideas now
Anyone with any suggestions?

Fcuk no
Fucking cast iron two ton nova wreckers
Scrap it!!!
Diagnostics are often overlooked on here.People throw parts at them instead. With a decent multimeter these engines are simple to dignose.
I doesn't need a chip or remap mate, should work fine
I getting up early and spending the whole day trying to sort it
Recheck air leaks, timing, cam belt position etc etc
Might even strip off the whole inlet and start again using another manifold
It's probably something simple but I can't fucking sort it
Had all sorts of thoughts of taking the 1300 out and fitting a c16se I have but I refuse to let it defeat me
all i achieved today was making it not start at all
Nova tat lol
indeed, complete and utter tat
plugs got soaked in petrol, so im guessing that's me needed a new set lol
i will sort it tho
That's my pulley
As you can see its set with the pointer on the large original notch
But there is a notch on the outside of the pulley
I'm guessing that one is for unleaded petrol???
I'm on the verge of taking it to garage now
Why not just have a play with adjusting the timing each way - and see if it makes any difference... if it does, you know that will be the answer?
What would that be a tooth over on the cambelt? Gotta be worth a try.
As far as I am aware there should only be a notch on the inside of the pulley. Will double check mine for you if you like?
What petrol it is running should not alter the cam timing. Only the distributor needs adjusting for differing petrol, although mine has not been adjusted since changing to super unleaded. Was told by my old Motorsport engine builder that as long as it runs ok don't touch it as petrol these days is so much better.
did post a pic on the other thread.
definately worth checking cam timing is not out.
What's pissing me off is
- Cam belt timed up with no1 at tdc and pulley notch in line with pointer
- Ignition timing set with a gun with notch and pointer lined up
That should be job done
And it still idles crap?
Spray all over the inlet manifold with wd and listen for any change in rpm.Pay particular attention to everything after AFM,injectors/breathers etc.
Is the AFM working ok?
What do the plugs look like?
It won't idle under 1500rpm, it's steady so it's not like it's got a air leak, I think and have checked so many times
Tried two AFM
Plugs are fine
I'm now thinking ecu or the icv, I've tried my spare ones but I've no idea if they are OK or not
Inlet might have a crack
Would also like to know about how to check if the icv is working ok?
It's just a mind fcuk now lol
Probably just going to strip the whole inlet off and rebuild double checking for issues

Edd even with air leaks it could idle steady.when my egr blank wasnt sealed properly it did.
You can test the icv on the bench by wiring up to 12v iirc i checked my old xe this way.
Does the afm to throttle body pipe have a takeoff for the icv like an e16se? They always cause aggro at the track
It has a take off, and yeah there crap and leak
I just need this heap working so I can run the engine in proper and stick the turbo stuff on
I'll have another look at it all tomorrow
Run the engine in?!
I was on the limiter 1 lap after the rebuild haha lol
That's what I mean by 'proper' :d
Just want to do a few hundred miles more before turbo stuff, plus a couple of long runs, so I'm confident it's all OK
Another piece to the turbo conversion puzzle

Nice :)
Have you got the turbo and manifold etc etc?
