cool :) at the rate you work that's about 2 hours lol
Yeah I would have to agree with you there, Fun begins tomorrow.. as its Chassis leg weekend :) 2inch box ftw
win :)
what welder you using balley as im about to buy one and yours looks pretty good from what i see,i know ive asked before but ive forgot cheers
Clarke 175 turbo I think David :)
been looking at a sip 150 turbo what you reckon?
Well I called by today to see how you were doing, but apparantly you're off shagging again! lol It's not gonne be ready for PVS like that is it now? lol
I've got a SIP 135 turbo and it's a horrible welder. It's not smooth, the wire snares up at every opportunity, and will not produce a proper weld on anything other than brand new clean stock. Mine is banished to the back of the garage, never to be used again lol
I've got a 160TM and love it, anything 151+ Has their better wire feed on it iirc, that's used all the way up to their 4 figure industrial gear.
Well Yesterday I started with this...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...26936038_n.jpg
Notice the lack of floor and chassis leg....
So first of all I removed the rest of the leg.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...67274732_n.jpg
And the offending item, notice this part is completely rot free.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...06967926_n.jpg
Once all that was done I cleaned up the metal and clamped in the new leg I made last year.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...44060031_n.jpg
I then tacked it in.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...93151703_n.jpg
Made a cardboard template for the floor.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...43738158_n.jpg
Then used a piece of 2mm to patch it up, I did clean up the other side before welding it in btw, and I cleaned the top side when it was welding in.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...06148892_n.jpg
After a grind down and a wire wheel I gave it a quick coat of primer,...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...43961281_n.jpg
I welded the underside, then got bored and went 'shagging' as Lewis kindly put it!
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...54739320_n.jpg
floor looks good mate. yesterday was certainly the better day wasn't it? lol
Yes certainly was! thanks :)
Nice welding dude.
Cheers Benn :)
I dared to cut the sill off today... lmao rot box!!
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...83537581_n.jpg
So i cut the top edge and down the sides to have a quick look.. OMG
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...31033215_n.jpg
Then ripped that all off..
Yumm
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...68257555_n.jpg
and the front
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...45432869_n.jpg
First hole...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...28519979_n.jpg
Cut out
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...82814347_n.jpg
and another hole cut out
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...66231848_n.jpg
New piece
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...46641587_n.jpg
Welded in, and then I ran out of gas :(
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...74987839_n.jpg
So I spent ages sanding, grinding, wire wheeling the bay so I could zinc prime the seams :)
any way here is the results, just need sanding now ready for filler :)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...81019941_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...38830233_n.jpg

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...11662076_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...26032266_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...10964586_n.jpg
Fairly pleased with the results :)
Dan you will have virtually rebuilt this hole shell soon from new plating, an im sure in the process increased the weight of the car by 50kg! lol
But fair play to you for bothering mate!
Scott
If it weighs 100kg more its only like having another one of me in it so I don't mind, but I will add it weighed 1030kg before so I will weigh it after and we can see how much difference there is :)
Thanks any way Scott, I must admit I am struggling at the minute! Its bloody mind numbing work.. but never mind, I can still see it being done for PVS12 (I hope lol)
Dan
oh god thats shocking! didn't think it wold be that bad inside lol getting there anyway, I can well see this as PVS tbh, once mines done I'll have some time to help out, and it'll give you some inspiration too lol
Jesus man, loads of suprises in this shell, top work as per though. Would of given up a long time ago if it was me lol
Cheers guys,
and Connor I am to far to give up now :)
So Today I fitted the N/S/R arch,
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...63997239_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...02998346_n.jpg
Looks fairly good, so thats a start anyway :)
I cut the N/S/F chassis leg out, and the floor to match the other side... Flintstone car ftw...
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...37172797_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...62804340_n.jpg
And I finished the end of the N/S sill. Plus my friend Dan came over and gave me a hand striping the engine, we got the inlet, pump, belts, pulleys and covers off. state housing and gear box off. So overall a fairly productive few hours :)
Note, you can see the end of the sill here to :)

Removed the headlining from SenoV6's nova tonight, as he wants a mk1 one to replace it so this will replace my slashed headlining. Quick pic :)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...08659672_n.jpg
nice, how easy did it come out?
Not bad tbh. Easier than I thought!
Only difficult bit is the windscreen, I have a 100% record on cracking them, they're 20x more fragile than the rear quarters.
Yeah but we have all the glass out on both cars. So the hardest bit was removing the grab handles, used a small drill and and screw to pull the plugs out. Will turn the round and refit once done :)
I used a claw hammer to pull the handles off iirc lol This was after the shell had been up for sale for yonks and no one had bought it at giveaway prices so I went animalistic on it, sills were properly fcuked from jacking it up by the time it got pulled away lol
cool i've got no handles left from last time remember lol I'll get deano to remove my glass again, then just need to get sean to make me a new headlining :)
Well easy enough then :)
aye :)
Had another good day yesterday,
Started by finishing the inner sill. So I cut the rest of the old one out and was left with this!
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...95780028_n.jpg
First plate.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...66347733_n.jpg
Welded.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...32971688_n.jpg
I then welded the seat belt nut in, bit of an over kill lol
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...62127376_n.jpg
Once that was done I was ready to fit the outer sill, I offered her up and starting marking and cutting.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...34491752_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...84136968_n.jpg
Mostly welded, but then I got bored.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...53296037_n.jpg
Also put the door back on to see how it fits..
Not to bad tbh :)
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...21857432_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...66422847_n.jpg
In between all of that I also painted all the inner sill with zinc primer, and I seem sealed the front end.. what a horrible job :(
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...57727156_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...00754669_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...49753486_n.jpg
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...23297832_n.jpg
Any way that is now all done, just need some filler in the bay.
Lewis also swopped my his two 8 inch fans for my 12 inch, looks great.
https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net...87723484_n.jpg
Dan
Dan what cooler is that mate?
Good skills..
Scott
Its just a universal jobby. Has 2 1/4 inch outlets and about 7 inchs tall.
Cheers Scott. Its getting there any way.
Dan
