Oh right, never saw that.Quote:

Right..... after some reserch i have found what im hoping to be the problem, on MIG i have seen a thread that details how if the calipers are V6 Vectra they work with288x25mm thik disc's, but the Cav/Calibra Turbo use 284x24mm
Well the Fiat disc's are 284x22, meaning the fiat disc is too thin to use with Vectra V6 calipers that use a 288x25mm disc, Spoke to Chris Tunaclif, who the set up use to belong to, and he think the calipers are Vectra ones.
So...the only thing i can do is to set the calipers off from the hub carriers arround 3mm withe some spacer/washers, as i belive the caliper is basicaly always touching on the inside/back of the disk as there not offset right!
(could also do with some way of spacing out the inner pad 2mm,but with something that wont depress over time undere presure)
I'll get and do this today (i hpoe, just need to find a spacer)
Then if there is still issues, ill look into vaux disc's.
Ballach or what lol
I think willwoods/hi spec's will be on my wish list :D

So after finding out what I thought was the problem this morning I set about fixing it!
Did the near side first I loosened the wheel nuts, and jacked up the car took the wheel off, I then realised I had some small C/S grub screw/bolts to hold the disc’s on (got them from work with this in mined)

Any way onto the brake problem, I first undone the slide bolts and wound them to almost out, then undone the bolts that attach the calliper onto the carrier.
I had to pop to Halfords as I forgot where I put the 7mm hex socket for the slide bolts, and I bought two bags of washers 13mm internal dia 1.5mm thick, these were doubled up to space the callipers 3mm from the hub carrier.
To get the two washers aligned I used telescopic magnetic reach tool thingy lol

Was quite busy figuring it out on this side, so forgot to do before pics, but this is the near side done, so you can see the offset is almost central, where as before the carrier side was almost touching the disc!

So that one done, I went round to do the off side.
lol Love how the side lifts cus of the cage!

Grub screw in.

Before pic off the offset.

http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/8...f0201small.jpg
Both set of washers in on the off side.

You can see how much better the off set is now.

So i think i have solved the problem, as i took it a quick spin, and it seamed to be alot better, well it rolls after you let your foot off the brake, so it's got to have done something! :thumb: :D
more progress soon.

Good work. Im using fiat discs without a problem though.....
No spacing or anything.
If its sorted though, sound :)
What calipers do you have Adam, as it's only the Vectra calipers that wont work right, if you have Cav/Cali turbo one's it should be fine.
But yeah they seam sorted now, as you can see in the pic's though it was mega close before, and i think they were basicaly always pushing against the inside of the disc's.

Ahh, ive got turbo calipers...
how your explaining the problem, it does sound like an expanation. if the inside pad was fully pushing the piston into its bore, and still touching the disc, it would be binding....
its alive lol.
Nice to see some work done on this mate.
Keep it up now.
I know it's amazing, i have a brain, found this all out for my self! (just about, bashed my head on the front coilover when the bolt came loose!) and can use a socket set! lol
