What car won? Doesnt look anything particually special in the line up from what i can make out?
Thank you very much.
Car that won was a Signum , fully leather retrim, full on air ride.. Won at the Opel triffen show too. (my mrs heard his mates saying they had all voted for it tho)
Fantastic car tho.
This was taking on my "lap of honor"

Did the feds jump on you from behind a bush for having no front number plate? :'(
No, plates normally in the window. Taken out at shows...
Does look good, but I can't understand why you've put larger wing mirrors on it; fairly sure you're faster than most things behind you now!
Thank you Sir, at the time i just wanted something different, liked the idea of them being elec too. I do fancy Nova stubby ones, but so many peep have them now...
Can't believe it's been so long since i updated this... But i've just been driving and enjoying the car really...
But there is a few things i've been doing. Picked up a spare rack, as mine is ok but because i polished it what 3 years ago it's just looking a meh..
Start the strip down.

Dont forget the bloody circlip! As i did, beat my mole grips in trying to get it out...

When the track rod ends are so tight/rusted they wont come off, you take strong measures...

Stripped.

Big thanks to Olly (trackdaynova) for his "how too" strip these, cause i wouldn't of known where to start...
Hhhmm casing marks and such...

Couldn't have them there.... Spoil the finish.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps244e7e6d.jpg
Gave it a clean with a wire wheel.

Also got another sump ready for a bit of love too.
Cars looking great as always Benn. I remember you having problems with your c.v joint a little while back, is it all sorted now? I think it's great how your still improving the car after all these years. How did you remove the slats from the grille?
Cheers Ben,
Seem of been ok since i did it. I had the Circlip groove recut to make the shaft longer so the joint knuckle can move more...
There are still bits i'm unhappy with, which is way i do it. Some things i can just pick holes in... car's are one of them. More so my own.... Hate things not being right!
The slates/back part of the grille are only plastic welded/heated in. So you just warm up the welds and they pop apart...
Picked one of these up too. Helps keep an eye and that...

Pimpin' steering rack, are you going to have it chromed?
If only I'd i've known mate, I'm sure I've got a brand new rack in the shed somewhere (probably covered in grinding dust tho!)
PM sent
Sorted.
Not much happening on the car at the mo. Battery died, replacement at my work. Am thinking off fitting EPas as well as a few other winter jobs.
Sump leak is one of them and maybe a join fitted in to my exhaust too.
Mines never stopped. Might take the engine out and do it that way..lol
I did that, it still dripped. Different sump now, had it check and filed to be 100%flat. Hoping it was the heat from polishing that maybe warped the edges on mine now... Pisses me off it dripping.
You could look into a brand new steel sump Benn to try and tackle the problem. I started researching about it, you possibly need a different pickup too. Only worked out something like £35 for the sump new.
I have a modded pick up pipe due to running the zlet pump which arnt cheap... THe new one i have i hope will be ok as it's been made flat.
Thanks for the link benn I ended up spending most of today on here I'm up to page 100 at the min. Hopefully get through the rest with in a week
EPAS should make it a much more enjoyable drive - Great edition IMO.
Great work as always
THat's cool, hoped you enjoyed the read.
Sorry Kev didn't see your reply. Epas should just make slow steering and parking easier. As 7" wide wheels and lowness marks it hard.

So it's been a forest because of the tree situation.

To clear the mind.... Start cutting.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps15fba604.jpg
Trying to hide the air filter?
Been looking at it. Lots of head scratching and cutting.. THinking i'm getting there.
Cheers dude :)
And erm.... No i'll always be one. Well, i do want to build a drift car, that wont be bufty.
So, my last pics of a inlet tube and new new awesome hole saw! Add them together and you get...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2f926d51.jpg
So that fits ok. The other end tho... Eek. After a bit of cutting i had this...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf9c61e7e.jpg
Reason being its very hard to cut this off straight as they are angled up so much and i need it to point down.
Got it to where i wanted it after some messing about, but now i need to get it to stay together so i can go get it alloy welded.
I tried glue.. Wouldn't hold. So i could only try and Mig weld it. Now i know you can't mig weld alloy, but needs a must. I now know why you can't weld alloy with a mig..
After alot of sparks and smoke and a very bad head ache. I ended up with this.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psd8b073ca.jpg
Oh it's not pretty.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psf18adf12.jpg
But it was holding. Took it to see the man that does all my alloy/tig welding. So did two small welds then flicked off the mig and got it all Tigged.

Tis much better. Temp fitted.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps22709038.jpg
Start piping it all back up. IC back in and that...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psfbec244c.jpg
While rebuilding the front back up, i trimmed back a few bits i had spotted and marked.
Found that the rad pipe was pushed hard against this bit... Will be felted and made a better curved shape later...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pse6268c3b.jpg
Rad in, water pipes in, pour water in... Stop and find and fix leak lol
Roll out of the garage.
Starts first time. Bit tappety as it's not been started in a few months. All running...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbacb8084.jpg
Ah.... No air flow meter or filter. Much cleaner.
Wow while the flash on the bay is sooooooooooooooooooo dirty!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psa95b92c9.jpg
Now this is just phase 1. A quick test to make sure everything works. So nothing is very pretty.
Much like this... While working away i noticed this bit had been filled, same with the wing bit (ear on the side) cleaned them back to find it had been welded years ago, filled to look better which water must of got under and rusted. So out with the wire wheel (hence the dusty bay) clean it all to bare metal, rust treat. Wanted to fit a new panel here, but i can't find one at all (get a 90£ whole front panel, but i only need to headlight surround panel bit so bit of a waist) So i'm gonna have to cut it out and made one up myself. So that's the next bit....
Bad bit...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...ps2e2b1436.jpg
More cutting coming.... Anyone have one of the panels?
Oh and a small video, so you can see where i'm at and you'll notice the very untidy bit... I need to make new oil cooler lines to move it. Hence why it cabled tided to the bumper bar...
But Phase 1 finished.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xIYz2ixaRs
Oh and the next job is to get the arm/filer around to wards the front panel a bit more and start making a box to enclose it all... Then rip it all a part again...lol Great.
loving this mate like the hidin afm ,
Hidden air filter is a great addition to the bay! Looks good mate!
Just the brake servo to go and your completely smooothhhh!
Just a thought ben, you've drilled quite a large section out of the chassis, will this not weaken it? Could you not insert a steel tube and weld it in to add some strength and then pass the AFM pipe through that?
Looking good Benn
Cheers dude :)
What i'm hoping.
Yep, i've got a thick walled bit of tube ready to weld back in. I'll then flat plate both ends for added strength. Just to be safe.
Cheers.
That will be a winter job. Got enough to be doing still...
Smooth stylee Bennieboy! You keep amazing me with this car/project/build...
+rep for you Sire!
Edit: must spread some love around first before I can give it to you... You wanna bear hug instead at Billing!? LOL
Benn, superb! I wasn't sure there was any way of improving on perfection but you've done it!
Cheers Jeff, i just kinda have a view in my head andcam trying to reach it... I want it right too, so have to redo the bits im unhappy with too.
And hell yeah i want a bear hug!
Its not perfect, i just want better. I love the look of the empty sides... That almost how does it run look.. lol
