View Full Version : Can you use a standard rad fan on XE? pics please!
As above really, I bought my nova xe already done and has no rad fan. I built myself a corsa XE and managed to get the standard fan to fit but don't think there's enough room in the nova bay????. Any pointers would be good.:)

The rad fan will belong more to the radiator than the engine. I'm using a GSI radiator and couldn't get a fan on correctly that didn't get in the way of the dipstick / coolant pipe. Furthermore I don't think the fan has ever cut in so I could ditch it. Many XE's will have a diesel radiator fitted which is thicker but not as wide. The dipstick on mine actually goes through the gap between the fan blade and the fan housing - a bit naughty and looks rough as. Never mind.
P.S. Where abouts in the N. East are you?

lol 'a bit naughty' - heheh, does that mean that if your fan ever does decide to cut in, your dipsticks gonna get a buzzcut :D
i love all this 16 valve business.. there way too big for the nova's engine bay.. but people keep slapping em in there and thrashin em hard :D

I'm in hartlepool mate, I guess I'll have to buy something to fit on the outside of the rad then ie an RS turbo fan?
You can fit a slimline push fan on the front side of the rad.
Or a std gsi/gte fan will fit.
