16v brakes or 8v

hi does anyone no if mk2 astra gte 16v brakes are differnt to the gte 8v brakes

Yes...

16v brake disks are 256mm x 24mm, and vented

8v brake disks are 236mm x 18mm, and solid (iirc)

Might be aftermarket brakes. Pretty sure they were solid as std.

i thought the 8v's was the same size, but just slightly thiner, but with crap calipers, not ate's like the 16v stuff

Looking on EPC.
It looks like all 2L mk2 astras had 256x24 vented discs.

they work pretty darn good on a 1400 servolol
i also bought some goodrich hoses brand new for 15 quid the other day, need fitting though

All nova gte/gsi 1.6 have the small vented diskes. only the very last ones have the new type calipers. The bigger ones can be fitted with out any problems, only then the 13 inch wheels will not fit anymore. if you have a xe, then i would not recomment the small ones.

OK!!!! I am sorry!!!!!!

In Holland the mark2 astra has been fitted with the small ones in the first year of production. The later models all have the same brakes as the 16V. In the case of the first model, there are even 2 diameters of pistons in the caliper.(i mean, 2types off the small version calipers)
