XE Nova jumping out of reverse

Started the other day and getting worse by the day. When I select reverse the car just moves the stick out of reverse as soon as I start moving.

Only way I can reverse now is by holding the stick in reverse and even then I sometimes just get a lot of crunching?

Gearbox or gear linkage?

Have you tried adjusting the linkage lee? If so did it make it better or worse?

i'd try the linkage first, see if that work's..

least it doesn't cost anything, if it sort's it

Does it feel like it goes all the way in to reverse? When my linkage needed adjusting it would not go in properly or put the reversing light on.

Doesn't feel like its going in all the way. Linkage feels awful to be honest though and first and second are hard to get too.

Will try setting it up again this week.

Check the pivot/bushings for wear on the rear gearbox mount too.

i would agree with john :thumb:
the rubber bush/block on top the box on the selector usually cracks
and causes problems with reverse and 1st gear
take a look at that mate

as mentioned by the people above. check the linkage and if the problem remains, check the detent pins and ball on the reverse pinion
