....... and was having a bit of a tidy up in the garage and noticed that I had the following knocking around :-
4 x digi dashes
1 x spare vectra dash (non working)
1 x fibreglass filler
1 x stopper/filler
1 x matt black paint can (nearly full)
So a plan was hatched and this is the result :-

A merging of old and modern in a seamless union
This is the back - not quite so seamless but gives you an idea :

It was quite easy to do in fact - I even got the trip counter pole to line up with the existing hole in the vec dash !
Just need to wire it in at the weekend and see how it goes.
Joff
Where the hell have you been Joff lol
Good skills with the dash!

We'll see how it looks at the weekend ...... but as I currently have a C20XE in the Vectra and a rev counter that seems to have a permanent epileptic fit as it doesn't like the older engine I thought it needed an old skool technology fix.
I've already run it with a bodge to see if it runs ok and seems to work fine (which is what I would expect as it was designed with these types of engine in mind!)
I'll take some more pics once installed. I also may get some films off Dom to change it to blue for a bit more of a modern feel.

Turned out to be the crappy aftermarket crank sensor I had not sitting far enough into the engine block to pick up the crank trigger wheel.
Once I narrowed it down to this I filed some of the casing off and shimmed it closer to the crank and it fired up first time !
Joff
great stuff, glad its sorted mate.

Nope but thanks for the help anyway - here's a pic of it now all installed and working - even the LPG system now works - I get 230 miles for ?18 which isn't too bad.

Dash looks cool. I bet that will raise some questions whenever a mechanic gets to see it (MOT etc).
Pretty sure there is a thread on MIG this week about LPG & XE's.

Been busy in the garage, much to the consternation of the wife lol lol lol !
Whipped the old Vectra dash out and after a bit of hacking the new one fitted fine. Also routed a new wire for the oil pressure sender and installed a Nova SR item (which was laying around in a draw) which gives off the right readings.

The only thing that doesn;t work quite as expected is the indicator green arrow bulbs. Instead of flashing they just stay on constant - however the lights outside flash as usual - I'll just have to live with that one - at least the rev counter now reads correct and doesn't flutter around!
Enjoy

Wiring is one thing that totally confuses me so I admire your talents.
That look sweet i told you you`d be finding other stuff to be fiddling with hehe, looks spot on and right at home in there but to be fair everything you create looks like its OEM, quality workmanship!
