Shell purchased in 2005 with roll centre cage and 2L Engine fitted
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/Underbonnet.jpg
Fully stripped down and repainted. No rust found, so it was a simple rub down and re-paint both exterior and interior. Notice the new GM roofskin to get rid of the sunroof!!

Engine and associated parts sold off (for a profit!! Lol)
1600 16v engine fully rebuilt (for 3rd time!) with new pocketed pistons, rods, bearings etc. SBD 184 kit included (cams etc) was fitted in June 2005

Ran for approx 8 months with a few problems until?

Decision was made to go 2L power, as the 1600 had been too much of a nightmare!
Started buying bits to convert the 1600 TBs to fit the 2L?.along with an sbd type C manifold and some Pico high flow injectors
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1482.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1481.jpg
Then bought an F28 with an ATB diff in, to swap into the F20 I had. Fitted all new bearings and seals for good measure too?.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1587.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1591.jpg
Bought a 1988 20XE with an early Coscast head with the larger guides and hand-finished ports.
Then found a John Toovey built ?race? spec engine that was going for a reasonable price that had recently been built, with receipts that would make your eyes bleed! Lol
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSC07363-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSC07372-1.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSC07366-1.jpg
It was a bare engine, but most of the bits either fitted off the 1600 or were taken from the other XE I had.
Also fitted an alloy bottom pulley and a 5kg flywheel from an Escort XE.
Realised that my SBD manifold would clear the Swindon baffled sump! So had a standard alloy sump baffled from Toovey.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSC07373.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1723.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1721.jpg
Fitted a Corsa PAS quick rack with a Saxo electric pump
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1594.jpg
Took a while to mount the 16 row Mocal oil cooler too, but got a hydraulic place to make me up some pipework, so I could squeeze it in, next to the rad.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1725.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1720.jpg
Most bits fitted and almost ready to go?.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1714.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v401/Foy/DSCF1715.jpg
Then it was mapped at Mech Motorsport in Cheltenham, but we couldn?t get it to sit properly on the rollers to get a full power reading?. But it was sitting at 217 bhp @ 6700, and it needed as much fuel at the limiter (8200) as it did at 6700?. So it goes well!

Having changed the plugs, oil and filter today, I insured it and booked its MOT for tomorrow...
Roll on weekend so I can tax it and get her legal for the summer track action (and M4! ;))
Plans are to fit uniballs, internal braided lines, hydraulic hand brake and internal fuel lines/swirl pot etc following starvatiuon probs at Llandow last year...

Well did a little bit today, adjusted the coilovers on the front.. as they were a little high and didnt look right...
Also managed to fit the uniballs that I bought from T45 Ste off here... clearly they are not meant for the big block outer CVs as they fouled them! A bit of jiggery pokery and bob's your relative!
Pics have been taken, but phone is ignoring my PC!

Liking that uniball, think im going to put them on my winters upgrade list :)

Indeed, I am not a massive fan of reomiving everything rubber/poly but in the case of ball joints, I never trust them passed a few hundred miles as they split so easily and you cant always tell when they do....

Will it need any mapping if the trumpets are longer/shorter?
Will it need any mapping if the trumpets are longer/shorter?
Nope, they are the some diameter and depth.. cant jusstify a £400 rempa cos they are a bit more shiney! lol
Even if they were longer, you shouldnt need to tweek it... the torque would just shift a bit...

Cool. I knew the trumpet length can change the characteristics but had no idea how the ECU might compensate.
So I still havent fitted all my internal lines (read as - none!) so I decided to do the next best thing and fit me Stack clock....
I am off to llandow next week and thought it would be nice to see what RPM I am doing too.. I know its a bike tacho.. but you can clearly see the important bit (over 6k)
Also has an integrated speedo, lap timing option, battery and integrated shift light...
I will get a proper carbon back plate thing, but this will do for now...

Just found the engine spec - for those who care! lol
Early 20XE Coscast head, Piper custom cams; I 296, E 300, solid lifters, double valve springs, titanium caps, stainless 1 piece wasted valves (29 Inlet, 33 Exh), bronze guides, adjustable vernier pulleys, fully flowed and ported by hand. All breather outlets removed.
87.5 JE Forged ‘slipper’ pistons, USA total seal rings, Arrow steel conrods with arp bolts. Heavy duty main and big end bearings, lightened and balanced knife crank. John Toovey bespoke baffled alloy sump, lightened billet flywheel.
Jenvey/SBD tapered 45mm throttle bodies. Pico 330cc injectors. MBE engine management. 8000 hard-cut rev limit. TAS Engine mounts

I jsut noticed the new wheels. Nice!
Bit more performance orientated than the Alessio's.
A few days off and I spend most of the first one on the Nova...
Bought a Stack about 9 months ago and its been sat in a box since... had to buy a few sensor adapters from Tweeks, but they are all fitted...
Oil Pressure
Oil Temp
Fuel Pressure
and coolent
spent a good few hours mounting in in a mk2 facia - only to realise that the big plug on teh back fouled on the rack mount!
so scrapped that idea and started again with some plastic backed carbon fibre..you will noticed that they are offset to the left for the above reason - this will also allow me to fit the warning/idiot lights that I had to buy (totally forgot!)
For some reason - the carbon looks folded - it isnt! Just odd lighting

Then thought about how I was going to work out how much fuel I have! Another oversight!! lol
Another hour with plastic welder and grinder...

No Martin - I had an earlier sender with mine - yours is far sexier! lol
Yep - got it second hand, still hold their money well though - but still cant quite bring myself to pay £1200 on something that isnt essential! ;)
And yes - it needs to get on the road/track ASAP - drove it around the drive and brought back memories...
Neighbour loved it! lol
should have brought the pod out from the column rather than offsetting, just my 2p's worth!
should have brought the pod out from the column rather than offsetting, just my 2p's worth!
Couldnt do it, without losing the sun visor thingy and that looked awful.
Also means you can actually see the revs/speedo, rather than looking around teh steering wheel!

lol
Yea but yours works!
When i had my engine rebuilt i left the sender attached, now all installed i'am getting a fault code, but the whole car was also re-wired. Pretty sure its the sender at fault but at Stack's prices it will be an expensive mistake.
Was hoping yours was like mine & i could send you mine to try to see if you got same code proving what was broken.
Never mind, i may have to bite the bullet soon & just buy one & see what happens :(

Happy to give it a try!
It has a cable that plugs into sender then the other end uses the 'sureseal' style plugs that plugs into the Stack loom.
Yours possibly uses just ring terminals to connect to loom maybe?
Yep - mine just uses two spade connectors...

About time! :thumb:
Do rather like this thing :) Has some nice little parts/touches on it :d
why in the name of hell would you use easy start on that ffs?
FFs to get it running FFs. LolI took the plugs out and sprayed them to clean them off and to get it to fire. Not sure if you're familiar with these sort of engines, but they run high fuel pressure and the battery was sluggish, hence I didn't want to flood it and kill the battery...they also take a good few cranks to get the swirl pot to fill etc...
Hope that's ok???
Oh and cheers mk... I haven't really done too much since 2009 in terms of tweaks, but it will do!
so you decided to wash the bores instead? easy start should be illegal! :tard:
tis a nice looking motor though :)
Dude seriously you need to understand what your writing before you post. How in gods name is spraying easy start on the plugs going to cause bore wash?? Lol
If anything, I am preventing it by getting it to fire on the first few cranks and not firing 4 bar of super unleaded into the bores!
