Hi guys, I need to know if my head has definately gone porous on the C20XE engine
Was driving home on sunday after a lovely amsterdam trip when I noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet. Had a looksee and noticed that a breather had split and was oozing the dreaded creamy mayonise type stuff. At the same time the engine went really tappy like it had lost all the oil, however once I switched it back on it was fine and has been fine since. The breather that has split is the one that comes from under the inlet manifold to the top left of the engine below where the loom goes.
Took all coolant pipes off and the one from the header to the radiator was completely blocked with the same mayo type stuff but was so thick I couldnt force water or air through. Took the rad off and same problem again.
Started the car up again last night and it ran fine, no taps or rattles but there seemed to be a little more moisture coming from the exhaust. Ran the car without the rad and fed water into the engine via the main hose on the right of the engine. Some of this then came out the 'stat side of the engine but the rest came out the split breather as this mayo type gunk.
The oil in the sump remains as oil but there is a mixture happening somewhere.
I know this is a bit long winded but any help is much appreciated.
Thanks

odds on its cracked its oilways (which is what people call the XE going porous, even though its not the same thing)

fairly easy fix with a few quids worth of brass/ally. There is a good link on mig somewhere on how to DIY fix it.
