i might be building a 1300sr nova rally car and wondered what mods can be done? a set of twin 40's, a rally cam, and a bit of head work will be done but what else would be a good idea. i am hoping to get a really good competitive engine for round about ?1000. any advice would help. cheers

Deffo get full exhaust system and 4-2-1 manifold 0r maybe 4 into 1 but for rallying i dont know which one. Deffo bottem end rebuild new shells bolts etc. And if you are rallying get suspension set up nice, powers good but if you cant put it down its useless. But i bet you already new thatlol oh and i electric fuel pump and regulater a facet or webcon would be nice a nice close ratio gearbox would be good. A f13 out of a gsi will go in and you could modify it to get the gears closer. But i dont really know what else:confused: You could pick most of that up from ebay easy.
first off is it a 1300 cc class or a 1400 cc class? as if its in a 1400cc class then no offence but your never going to be competative...
your best bet if you have to stay 1300 is a 1.3 suzuki swift conversion.

i did think about the suzuki conversion but dont know what work is involved. how much work is it and what needs to be changed? can you just buy a conversion kit? i am not very handy with wires etc so would joining looms etc not be a pain? also if i went down that road of converting to a suzuki swift engine can you get inlet manifolds and stuff for twin 40's etc easily?

1300 8v are no good deffo not competetive
suzuki swift conversion is easy ...email me for details allister@aswrally.co.uk
or look at my site www.aswrally.co.uk (http://www.aswrally.co.uk)
vaux 1400 16v is the other way to go
most events are now run upto 1400
the last time out with my engine the only car in the class that beat us was a full spec gpA car ( we went off on ss1 and dropped 15s so we didnt bother chasing him then ) we beat 3rd in class by over a min and the last in class by 9 mins......suzuki conversion is a good bang for bucks conversion

off topic but those swifts are fast. one of my younger mates who is yet to turn 17 said about one and i laughed and then he showed me some vids of turbo'd 13000's pulling 13s. i soon shut up.
back on topic why not try and get the corsa sprint injection. ther the european version of the sport iirc 1300 mpi then proper mangement etc look at glens sri in the features although it is a 1400 it shows massive power is achievable. but i think his was bored out?
finding the 1300 sprint injection system will be like finding rocking horse turds.... and wont really unleash a competative engine...

i had a Suzuki swift gti for a while and have to say it gave me quite a suprise performance wise, was marginally quicker than two of my mates 205 1.6 gti's from a rolling start, wasn't quite as quick off the mark as couldn't get the traction down (they only way about 4 kg's total i think)
just a shame the body work rusts on them is worse than that of nova's

i am going to do this conversion and need to know some info. any advice would be much appreciated. if i use the swift engine with an adaptor plate to fit the nova gearbox on what shafts do i use? will it just be the nova shafts?
email the bloke that gave you details on the first page....

If it has the Nova gearbox. YES it will be the std Nova shafts.
I saw a pic of a swift lump in a Nova the other day. Had different mountings obviously.
hmmm should be able to get a nice T70 turbo for a grand, big power then lol!
