Looks good to me. What kind of body kit will you drive?
Wich size are the wheels? Wich brake will you drive?
Looks good to me. What kind of body kit will you drive?
Wich size are the wheels? Wich brake will you drive?
Its a irmscher sprint c kit, very rare in this country. The wheels are the original wheels for the body kit, also made by irmscher.
Im going to go with willwood 280mm brakes, and disks on the back. Hopefully have the brakes when i get back off holiday.
Spent some time last night soldering the loom ive run inside the wings, will finish that off tonght, as well as soldering my new battery terminals etc.
Passenger side headlight is fitted now but im having trouble with the drivers side as the inlet hose to the turbo is in the way of the headlight adjuster.
You need to cut the headlamp adjuster off unfortunately.
Yeah, i think im going to cut it down and fix a nut on the end of it,so i can remove the headlight and then adjust it. Pain in the ass!!!!!
I just left a bit of it on and can just grip it with pliers to adjust it but i'm lazy.
lol,ill proberly nether get round to actually putting the nut on.
Had some brackets welded on to the intercooler, so thats now fitted and the front end is all complete. The engine is now running and it all seems to be fine.
Going to kos on wednesday so when i get back ill get some new brakes and cv joints.

get it finished and on the road fag!!
Heres some progress on he nova. Engine is finished for now, its starts first time and doesnt smoke. Ive made a good start on fitting a corsa gsi abs system, im going to try and mount the abs unit today.
Ive fitted corsa gsi rear hubs now, along with a new handbreak cable.
The back doorcards are coming together, ive got the correct shape now just need to trim them.
Basically its all coming together, the car will be on the road in september, but should be finished long before that.

get the pics sorted mate, love the pics of the irmy kit in the first set of pics nice shiney turbo to
pics dont work for me neither?
I was begining to think this car would never get finished. As i havnt touched it for the last 6 months due to rebuiding a mk2 golf, but over the last two weeks ive cracked on with it as i want to go to all the shows this year.
Ive cut away the rear arches to cater for the wider wheels and have now properly fitted the wide arches and rear bumper.
The car is now all back to gether and today i took it out for its first drive in 3 years. It was wet and it just wheel spun as soon as i gave it some throttle. Then the engine started to miss fire and wouldnt rev over 3k.i put it back in the workshop going to have a look at it tomorrow.
All that is left to do is the respray, which im going to make a start on soon.
I will get some pics when i take it out tomorrow.

Good getting back into it :thumb:
Get some new pictures up please :D
heres a couple of pics of my golf. Ive just fitted some coilovers so the ride height is different to the pics now. Also ive had the interior retrimmed in black and cream leather effect material. I know its not as nice as real leather, but this car is being done in a budget. Ive almost finished building a new engine for it, a 2l 8v. Should give it a bit more go.

Im going to keep the original coulour which is star silver. Yes is is the irmscher sprint c kit. Definatly not off any cav. I Love the kit, still not sure it was worth the ?1000 i paid for it, but that was ages ago now so it dont matter.

Im sure others agree but the simple reason i went for it, is there isnt anyone else with the same car and it isnt the usual gsi kit and speedlines which i think is just about the most over done look on this site.
Ive completly lost interest in looks and shows now and as the car is far from perfect all i want to do is get it on the track and hammer the s**t out of it.
Cheers for all the comments guys

my mistake ive been looking at this picture,
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/twag/DSC07813.jpg
the finish is far from perfect for a couple of reason, i payed ?5OO for the complete spray job, i just couldnt justify blowing anymore money on it. it has got me in to a hell of alot of dept, which i am still paying off. I want to buy a house now and that is far more important.
the other reason is the kit is 23 years old and been fitted to god knows how many cars. the drivers arch has been smashed up in the past and not been repaired that well, not to mention the rear bumper which got smashed to peices when my engine crane fell on it. fair play to people like keith who are building perfect cars but i just dont have that kind of passion for a nova.
lol can never see how people can realy comment on finishes from photos!

I want to do it before pv, need to save up some funds first as i want to fit a lsd at the same time.
small update- got the car back from the body shop yesterday. its all moted now.
Went down my work shop today and got started on my internal gear shifter. Ive gone for a corsa shifter instead of a cav one, just because i had one laying around.
First i cut the old shifter surround out and part of the carpet support out, ive left parts of it as i want to try and keep the centre console. Then i remove the old shifter.
the corsa shifter rod is a different shape to the cav one but with a bit of cutting and welding i managed to get the results i wanted.
just got to cut the hole in the tunnel now.
also my roose joints arrived yesterday for the linkage along with my new german style number plates.
Ill get pictures up tomorrow.
well ive finished the corsa internal shifter! it feels miles better than the nova one. Also managed to get the centre console to fit, with the help of my dremel.
Im going to hold off on the roose joints, going to save them for the f28 linkage.
picking these up on sunday
http://i3.ebayimg.com/03/i/000/e8/94/80ff_1.JPG
Ive decided to paint the inside of the back end instead of fitting a false floor. So after work i removed all the sound deadening for the rear and have started rubbing it all down should have it all finished tomorrow.

As much as I like the irmscher rims I would recomend changing them for the look of the car. What brakes are you running at the moment?
ive just got some 256 cav brakes on athe the mo, fitted them to get it through the mot.
Picked up the wilwoods today, they look spot on. only thing is the brake lines that came with them dont fit the wilwoods.
been looking in to the wheel situation, as i think it will look better with bigger ones.
Anyway i have found these, what do you all think?

Im going to keep the irmscher wheels regardless as there not easy to come buy brand new.
Hopefully i will be getting the comps as well, gives me a couple of options then.
As for the brakes, i fitted them today and tryed the irmscher wheels to see if they fit. theres plenty of room exept the caliper catches the spokes, so ill need to space the wheels out about 5mm, does anyone know if this will effect the handling?
I will get some pics at some point.
thought id better do a bit of an update. Brakes are all bleed up and working now. Had to space the front wheels out by 8mm to get them to clear the caliper, so ive also spaced the rear wheels out by 5mm. I brought a stud conversion kit last week, certainly makes fitting the wheels alot easyer
I sold my 80mm springs and replaced them with some 60's, took the front coilovers up by about 15mm.
Interior is finished just need some funds to get my carbon doorcards now.
Im going to insure the car tomorrow, so hopefully ill have it taxed on monday. ive booked off monday and tuesday to finally run the enigine in.
Made a start on the detailing of the bodykit last night, i think it makes a big difference.

Ive also fitted my carbon doorcards that i brought recently, they look spot on! Pics will follow tomorrow.
Sort of reminds me of a wide boddied R5 turbo from the back

I think the only thing I would do now is put a personal reg on it, something a bit older - To make it represent a Mk1 Nova
Nice though :)
looks ace mate! loving what you have done to the customisedperfection window sticker! lol
disaster has struck!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went out for a 40 mile trip to micheldever tryes yesterday, had to show my mate where it was and wanted to get a tyre fitted to my spare wheel. All went well on the way up and thought i would get my tracking done whilst i was there.
This was when the fun started, the guy got the car in the bay and had a quick look underneath only to find the oil pressure sender i had fitted the day before was mangled due to the driveshaft hitting it.Couldnt risk it being broken off as i would have a distinct lack of oil pressure. Luckly the guy let me use a spare ramp to remove the sender and refit the original pressure switch.
So tracking is done, tyre fitted, and sender is removed. before i left i decided to fit some new plugs set up to 0.7mm gap as ive had a misfire at high rpm and wanted to see on the drive home if this was the fault. This is when my day came to an end. fitting the 3rd plug, and just as it started to tighten up it started spining!!!!!! thought i had stripped the thread in the head, but how? it hadnt even tightened right up. Removed the plug to find it had snaped!!
The plug has broke off leaving only the thread in the head, must have been a seriously defected plug. Not happy at all!! Will get some pics later.
not all bad, could of been much worse. dont get me wrong gonna be a pain in the **** getting it out
That happens all the time on ford ka's and fiesta 1.3's shoudn't be too bad to get out. The easiest way i found is hammering in a torx socket and winding it out like that (sounds a bit pikey i know but it works)
well i managed to get it out, just pushed a large phillips screwdriver down it and wound it out. Then got the hover, adapted it to take a small bore pipe and hovered out the bore to removed any metal bits. going to get a magnet stick to be sure there is nothing in the bore.
Dissaster averted then lol
Good news mate! you did seem some what pissed on the phone yesterday! i run a .6 gap on my plugs!, if your still on coil id get a nice ford grp A item in there aswell as i had problems with my coil i bought from a motorfactors giving missfire.

been doing a bit of work her and there over the last week.
Ive spent alot of time sorting the wiring out, had to move the electric window switches into the door due to removing the centre console. With all that finished the dash is now back in. Battery is now located in the boot.
the corsa servo is now all finished and new clutch pedal assembly is fitted. Thursay im going to finished the dash off and get the seats back in. That will be the interior finished.
Next on the list is the f28 clutch which, then the engine can go back in.

ive now spent 3 hours cleaning the f28 up! what a s**t job, all worth it in the end and ive giving it a coat of silver hammerite.
And for my latest purchase.....................

Yes im running the corsa servo, the servo is all complete except from shortening the pedal.
i fitted the engine and box on the two other mounts, held the gearbox with the engine crane then just moved it around untill it sat level.
seems to fit quite well and all looks level.

wow chap just had a read through all the pages great to see such old skool coolness , must say i love it so different from anything else keep up the good work :thumb:
Havnt updated this for ages so thought id better. Been buying a few parts and finally i have everything to get it back on the road.
After fitting the f28 i realised the mount sat right where my intercooler outlet was. So ive had to cut a section out of the crossmember so it will sit further forward and slighty lower, the bumper has also been choped up to aid airflow.
Hopefully going for a mot a week monday if all goes well.
i bit the bullet and brought the rosejointed tie bar mounts from chris astley, fitted them last week. will get some pics soon.
Cossie webber regulator has been sourced to sort the fuel pressure

phase 2 is generally very reliable and only really tolls on the turbo (if standard). and is plenty quick enough in a road going nova!
phase 2 is generally very reliable and only really tolls on the turbo (if standard). and is plenty quick enough in a road going nova!
reliability is a factor im really looking at now, one of the reason i coughed up for the wideband.
Ive got a reconned hybrid so the turbo should be ok for a while
been busy this week,
welding in some angle after cuting the cross member up, doesnt look all that pretty, but its not going to be seen.

so finally i could fit the intercooler and front bumper
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/twag/IMG_0045.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/twag/IMG_0048.jpg
while i had the druck out, i though id better set up the webber fuel regulator, dont think your going to get any more accurate than that!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v420/twag/IMG_0056.jpg
Seats are now back in completing the interior and ive started cutting the bonnet to fit my aero catch flush bonnet pins.
Lastly i calibrated my wideband, on idle im getting a afr of 15.5, got to check to see if this is right.

equal shafts will make all the difference bud.
That said don't try and cross white lines in the middle of the road while accelerating. If you want to overtake - drop down to desired gear, pull out, get straight, foot to the floor and hang on!
the thing is i want to start doing alot of trackdays, but the way it pulls around i cant help thinking its just not suitable.
Just need the equal length shafts and go from there.
Diff wont be till next year as in desperatly saving for a house

I never experienced torque steer on track because the surface is super smooth. A lot of the torque steer on the road is mainly due to the poor road surface. If you boot it on a smooth dual carriageway you shouldn't find it too bad - especially when the equal shafts are fitted.
krobinson
17-05-09, 11:26 AM
Graig, once you have a diff and equal length drive shafts fitted you'll love it. Mine just shoots forward without any torque steer. As simp's said, it'll only torque steer on a bad surface or if you hit the white line whilst overtaking lol.
