Been very busy trying to get everything in order before the dyno day . Trailers all painted now . The top slick is the size im going to the bottom one is whats come off . Bearing in mind the bottom one is 9 inches wide . New wheels should have a much better roll out . Fitting twin pumps to deal with the new injectors and also changed to e98 ethanol fuel . New cams and pulleys fit . Fingers crossed it makes some good numbershttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220312/91b4cb7ba5d0fa3af081578c69976909.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220312/e6d9b4b09d213376369ec1b2bace88e9.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220312/a1c6682b0f70f2d3b8efd84f2535bac1.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220312/5420876bbbbf4f513e55ea6e00c2c3da.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220312/e9175ee136878f251290362a77f684ee.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220312/f30fd5c06a2c0483c314fa522eb54384.jpg

Mine are mounted to the flat floor . The pumps should be gravity fed from the tank and not having to suck the fuel in . Having said that i did used to have my pump up in the engine bay but it wasnt ideal and just makes the pump have to work harder .

Glad I asked that.
So I need to have my pump lower than the tank outlet which is good.
Cheers for that.

Was onto a winner at the dyno until the headgasket failed and lifted the head . So time to go back to the drawing board . I have learned i will not use a cometic again now afyer seeing the horror storys of similar things happening . Bottom end was totaly fine luckly but i have been wanting to fit 87mm pistons for a while now so now is the time while its in bitshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220413/3ae19b4967719c2fb791fb7c2c04e88f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220413/e3cdf975db880f4fab283988bfbf6b27.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220413/c49259e38828fa055bd143e48913754f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220413/9140f5c831b810766e8ffb4a2f0c4ecf.jpg

All the head and block machine work is done . 87mm bore and 34.1mm oversize valves all lapped in . Even managed to get hold of 16 titanium retainers . I have also got the piper ones in the picture . But having seen a lad snap one last week at pod and destroy his motor i decided to look for the titanium ones . The pipers are sold as "steel" giving the impression they are billet however what they dont tell you is that they are cast steel . Pritty bad realy considering how much they cost https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220613/ec345c180d483443a1361ff20219debb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220613/4d41dce349d1eedcafa036b98ba5f8db.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220613/e273b19f67fa5d4fb423367200b1d564.jpg

Eventually got round to getting some more bits done on the tube rear beam

A bit of info for anyone wanting to use these hubs from berrisford. The bearings they supply are to fit their own stub axles and are actually Vauxhall firenza front bearings. If you are using nova stub axles you will need to use the firenza bearing race they supply and standard nova bearings. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230301/b44290da4421b4abe017deba3464b9b1.jpg

Great work on the trailer, and inspiring, thanks.

If the latest Brian James A2 I've just bought turns out to be wide enough to take my Nova (it's 1.8 metre so it's going to be tight), then I am seriously looking at building it into an enclosed type.

Would be lighter, lower, and a lot cheaper than buying a 'ready to go' enclosed one.

I work in a fab shop so have all the materials and use of machines at my leisure. But after I bought the trailer it only cost ?1000 to enclose and paint . that was 10 lengths of 25x25x1mm box and 10 sheets of 1.2 mm aluminium. And a shit load of rivets iv got about ?1800 in the entire thing rather that ?12,000 for the same size eco trailer . enclosing the trailer added 135kg to it . nothing at all . my main reason was I have sold my vivaro we used to sleep in at the track and bought a landrover . this now means I can tow the car to the track stick it under the gazebo and sleep in the trailer on proper beds ect . I have just put led strip lights inside for night time USB so powered off the laptop I use to check data logs on the car

Just been back and read through again. How was it making the bar for the front? I'm toying with the ide for mine as I'm using a larger none vauxhall engine and the extra room will be a god send. Is it just rollcage tubing that you have tied into the chassis legs?

total_vauxhall
14-04-23, 07:19 PM
Yes 38mm cds tube relatively easy to do as long as your OK with fabrication . I made a frame and bolted it to my garage floor with heavy channel . then welded angle iron to all standard old tie bars and bottom arms ect so they were fixed solid to the frame and garage floor obviously with car on stands not on rear wheels . once I was sure they went going to move any were I unbolted them from the standard cross member and cut all the front off . cut the legs right back to the strut turrets and insert tubes inside the chassis legs and capped the ends of the legs off around the tube . then formed the hoop tube and then sheeted from the legs to the tube . me and nud did mine first but if you look online on social media for nuds nova he's done exact same on his apart from in more detail . all I can say is unless you are using adjustable arms ect . ensure you get it all bolted down solid before you start otherwise you could end up with a wonky car

Thankyou for the info. Unfortunately I'm not on any social media so can't check the other nova out. My front crossmember is already off as it was bent and rotten lol. Shouldn't be too hard to get it right though with a bit of measuring. I need all the engine bay room I can get so this mod really will help. I'm very interested to see your 60foot times on your new setup.
