View Full Version : rear window surrounds
Howdo,
Me 1.2 has bog standard rear windas - in an effort to make it look a little sharper - I sprayed the rounded section at the back of the winda into a triangle to reflect an SR -looked ok but missed the all important black window surround - this just finished them off. However can anyone tell me whether you can buy these from vauxhall or are they part of an SR's window rubber surround?

The surround is an aluminium section that is held in place by the window rubber......find a nova in the scrappers with them fitted, remove the rear window and carefully remove the surround.
These are fitted to the L and GL models, as well as the SR/i, GTE, GSi etc.
I got a set from a B-reg 1.2L when I wanted a set for my Antibes.
ONE THING THOUGH......you'll ALSO need the ones for the front doors to match, or it'll look wank!
These aren't as easy to remove as you have to take out the quarter-light and window rubber/window guides, but you'll need the rubber anyway as it's slightly different to the other used on models without the surround trim.
Use a wide-edged chisel or similar to carefully prise these off.....they bend and damage VERY easily so be steady.
You also need the piece that clips in along the bottom edge of the window.
I got my complete set from the breakers for ?8....that included the front and rear side window rubber and all surround pieces!
cheers rich - will go a huntin for some...
