Do the ends really need shortening? For my mates gsi, using a paxo pump.
Also has anyone got a template for cutting out the extra metal where the valve head sits against the firewall?

hmm no replies? how about this then, is the difference between the lengths of the rack's just in the track rods? if it is wouldnt it therefore be easier to put the Nova track rods onto the corsa rack?

you cant really swap the track rods as they are a bastic to get off the rack iirc
just get the corsa ones shortened bya bout 1.5 inches each side iirc

Well we've allready got them off the corsa rack so i'll have to take a boot off and measure the nova item.

If i remember right you have to shorten the rack by 1.5 inchs each end. I bought the rack second hand all ready cut. It had been cut down to much though!!!! I couldnt get the tracking correct. I ended up going though all the track rod ends at my mates motor factors. We settled on longer rod ends with the same thead from a Fiat chiquenchentyoooo. Mines got the rally quick rack internals as well. Less than 2.5 turns lock to lock. Make sure you have the rubber bulkhead grommet part. This gives the generall shape needed. Its trial and error with the hole. Drill and cut with tin snips. Seal up properly or your feet will get wet!!!
It would be loads easier to fit with the engine out. To fit I had to remove the external fluid pipes then put them on once in the rack was on. I had the pipes made up for ?30 notes.
I used a brake bottle for the fluid from demon Tweeks.
I mounted the pump where the battery gos. The battery is now in the boot.
Does this help?????????
what about the wiring for the pump? which pump have you used? ive read about using a peugeot pump which i assume is the same as the saxo?!
and i take it the corsa rack is a corsa b gsi?

Right I think we'll only shorten the arms 1 inch then, and we got the big lump of rubber that goes round the pinion shaft so we should be ok there. Gary's still trying to get hold of a pump though, the paxo ones seize up quite regulary so he's going to try one from a clio or a 106.

106 and saxo ones are the same. Earlier ones go. Ive used a 70 amp relay and picked up the ground from the alternator so it only runs when engine is. You could manually switch it though

Would the pump fit on the opposite side of the bulkhead from the battery?

hmm possibly the problem i found is that the resivoir needs to be higher than the pump . Cound go anywhere really. Rally cars mount them above the passenger feet behind the dash very noisy though
