dpnova has 3 garages full of stuff. he has big plans and it sounds like he is a man on a mission. think he is going to do an A-team job. drive car in garage, pull out a welding torch and out comes a beast of a car.

You cannot use perspex
When perspex brakes its more dangerous than glass.
Perspex is not used on rally cars, its called Polycarbonate.

Now i'm not trying to be funny but how do you stop people getting into you car when its parked on the street or in town? :?:

dont know if you have noticed this, but those things that rattle in your pocket are called keys. you place one of them in a hole in the door. and turn. this operates a thing called a lock. quiet simple really.

:D :D

polycarb is really tuff stuff. they use it in greenhouses and conservatrees (sp) so the little angles in the street dont accidentally place a rock through it.

i was gunna ask this so ill rephrase it i take theres a way of lockin the sliders

Jim

i take theres a way of lockin the sliders

Yes, from the inside there is a little pin that stops the slider from going back. Besides, if you trim down the door pin, if someone did get thier arm through the window they wouldn't be able to lift up the lock anyway.

Get your self a heated front screen too and do away with the heater and all the assosiated bits!

Isn't it true that perspex windows are easy to remove (by thieves) because they "flex" and pop out without breaking?????

Not very secure....

Mark
25-01-04, 05:51 PM
It depends on how well you secure them in the first place, but on the whole, yes they are slightly less secure....but lets be honest, if someone wants to break into a Nova the type of window fitted is not going to make the slightest difference.

For all u people who want to know :-

Most common place 2 get perspex windows from is

AIREDALE RACE COMPONENTS

01423 360456

Two options available as to which material to use

Either Perspex (which can shatter, but scratches can be polished out) or
Polycaronate (which is unbreakable but can't polish scatchest out !)

Both are available with or without 'Slider' windows - The finished product is excellent, the slider runners/window are cnc machined, and come pre-assembled

Availabe clear or tinted

I Can't remember the prices but the guy on the other end of the phone is very helpful !!!!

Another cheaper option (carried out by a mate to his rally car) is to hunt high and low around scrap yards for ex police vehicles (Riot van) - Take the tinted polycarbonate side windows out (usualy not scratched due to mesh covers over them) - give the guy in the office a couple of quid - use your old glass as a template and simply cut round with a jigsaw !!

Hay preso - cheap polycarbonate windows !!! LOL

Hope that answers some of the questions !!!

Cheers
