hi, i recently bought a vauxhall nova gte 1988 spec f reg, i plan to take it back to standard form and glory :) i plan to buy new decals for it, respray the bumper lips and the sideskirts to standard paint colour, suitable suspension kit and uprated bushes (orange), strengthed engine bay, colour coded hoses and pipes( white) , reundersealed grey underneath, anti roll bars silver theme, i am trying to source original parts for the car happy days :)

repair the back arches, find replacement doors, gte airbox,bootlid,drivers wing,all genuine, full respray inside and out,fully undersealed,new suspension bushes,rose joint the gear linkage, change the suspension as its to low, find gte front seats or might go for two buckets (black) maybe flock the dash (grey),a pillars (grey)door cards(grey),small steering wheel (black) fit my genuine sump,oil filter,rocker cover gasket,possibly new exhaust system full replacement, not much haha

Honestly? I thought they would of been really heavy as normal seats are steel framed.

trial fit for the airbox needs a piperxross filter :) , i need some decent bolts to secure it and good clean up before final painting.

Get the sizes mate, if there a good size and you fcuk about enough you'll get them on, the rear is easy with changing the camber but the front can be awkward to get right so they don't catch.

I'd say silver too on them.

Dont know much about engine internals mate. I take it thats bad tho?

screw has either fell into the inlet manifold or a dropped it in by mistake and it found its way into cylinder 4 and bent the valve, i,e cam followers came out off position and made it run like a bag a ****e, cause the valve was either stuck open or not opening to full capacity , new valve lol

update for today, new valve ordered, valve guide has been drilled out as it was damaged to, need a new water bottle, i know where a 8valve cavvy is so that will do :)

A couple a trial hoses, stripped back the loom traced the wiring, broken connections for horn, cut and recrimped, tested horn just a click so its a horn I need, turned the idle screw on the inlet, sitting about 1k so happy with that, roll on the 25th for mot

10days to get it sorted, behind the passenger turret it needs cut out rewelded 5cm x 3 cm obv you have to weld onto clean metal, and the brake cylinder is about the same size, the brake pedal box needs to come out to cut the other rust out and get it fresh metal in there , hope it can be done in the 10days, thats all apart from a bulb :(

There's a place in Glasgow that I have been too in the last two years for M.O.T and its only £15, a unbelievable but true price, 50 is a total rip off, Mcletchie autos is the name across the road from GSF :)

i sanded it all down treated it and stoechipped it grey, just so there treated and try save the rest a the original metal,on the passenger rear inner arch towards the rear panel theres a hole prob 5cm x4 cm so tht will be getting fresh metal to, new panels it is then :( still not bad for a 25yr old car,

Was having a look through this thread last night, saw the twin spokes and thought "Yas, these wheels will totally make this gte stand out, especially in silver" Then saw you have swapped them with your mate on fb :( The slabs look lovely, but imo the vec rims were a winner!

I know, but I was thinking running 16s on a daily basis with my lowered suspension might be a issue, I.e the roads being pish, the colour of the wheels will compliment the steel grey I think, needs decent suspension and a decent ride height. If he ever plans to get rid a them a have first offer ��

Fair point, Although in reality theres no noticeable difference to my nova on 16" mo's, or 15" mo's, both same proxes tyres (195/40/16 and 195/45/15) That's not so bad then. Your old wheels quite suit that 5dr!

Oh and for cleaning the engine bay, try and get hold of some g101 de-greaser, any valeting boys should have it, its great stuff, esp mixed up quite strong with hot water. (then jet wash it off)

Small update, thats the gte took off the road for the winter, bought a daily corsa b :P waiting on full rear quarter arriving, then its off to get quoted for welding, what i have looked at the gte needs the boot corners done, both rear arches, front splash guard, small hole on passenger sill ( size 20p ) i will be asking for new rear inner arches also i sold the recaros so am minus interior in the gte :P
