Small update, bought a mint gte interior, boot seal, sensors, decals, booked into get new arches and rear inner arches, 260 quid for both sides, am going to upgrade to a 2litre 16v

Update, engine sold for 200, I kept both looms from the gte and the driveshafts, 12 months tax bought, time to find a decent redtop engine and buy the conversion kit ����

Theres a few bits that need cut out and replaced, but for a 26 year old car am quite happy with it. garaged all winter and i will only drive it on dry days once its done :)

On further inspection while stripping the nova i will need a new rear panel, rear arches, rear splash guards, front splash guards, new sills, small repair in the battery tray or should i replace the full area? strengthen for redtop engine, passenger turret, major welding work ahead :(

Have you thought about the inner rear arch mod to save them rotting out again?

I bought inner rear arches mate, I was going to fold the lips up, treat them zinc or etch then seam sealer them then stonechip

The only problem with folding the lips up is any moisture or dirt that gets in won't be able to get out. A friend of mine restores classic cars and he has done the arch mod on various cars and it's well worth considering.

Basically you trim the existing inner arch down and weld it further up on the new outer, them seam seal it up. The problem with the original design is its two skins welded together than let moisture in too easy and then swell up.

its actually mocked up, it wont be cut that high up, i have pictures when i cut the rust out, was only about a centimetre from the bottom of the arch, yeah hes a skilled fabricator so i guess in our eyes a big job :)
