Football is not a good sport, the players get paid too much for doing no actual work and it's boring as sin.

mowgli
16-06-12, 10:23 AM
ok... 10 year career max.. average wage £500k for premiership. halve it for tax, so 2.5million spread out over someones life, say 60 years till they cop it + their playing career... so, that money is equivalent to 35k per annum, then allow for the inflation that always happens, and bear in mind that in 1960, a family car cost £500 new, as opposed to what, £15k now, or 3000% , so add that into the mix to guess prices in 60 years time... doesn't sound so great, does it?

turbojolt
16-06-12, 10:32 AM
i never understand the whole they get paid to much crap, its like someone working on the bins moaning that people in i.t get paid more money then them, there field genrates more capital and the bi product of that is they earn more then other people who work in another field.

the only people that get paid to much are the ones sat at the job center but never looking for a JOB.

mowgli
16-06-12, 10:44 AM
tj, they don't sit at the job centre, they are far too clever for that, you see, they have this severe pain that means they can't work, its not that they don't want to work, but they simply can't manage it.... etc......

Agreed. My waste of space mum is like this, she would "love to work" and yet has never worked more than probably a week or two in her life. She always has numerous excuses. She loves that my "disabled" brother has moved in as he's now a reason for her to get more money and stay home. That pisses me off.

reading the HSE guidelines & rules, and actually implementing them are two completely different things.

there have been no new hse laws for above a decade.. just minor amendments for new equipment..

but large organisations employ safety officers who get completely out of hand...

we regularly get to building sites & some pillock with soft hands tells us that we can't actually climb up the steps to sit in our crane seats to unload loads of bricks, because its dangerous, so we give them a copy of our risk sheets & ask them to find out just what rules we are specifically breaking, because they are actually wrong on this one...
they want us to use remote control cranes & stand near the vehicle, which means the visibility is massively compromised, and the remote controls have no proper feedback to tell you if you have got the bricks safely grabbed, and also, you can't feel if the vehicle is actually moving, which shows if the legs are on unstable ground when you are stood by the side of it..

mowgli
25-06-12, 12:35 PM
I can understand hard hats on site. But what's gonna fall on my head while driving a mini tractor down a foot path?

a pillock we once employed was driving a twin drum roller near a wall & ran over a brick end.. he was leaning over the side & head butted the wall when it lurched over...

it served him right.. he'd only leant over to spit his gum out..

Hobbit

I know what you mean Mowgli, but to be fair, we've had it for 7 years, and it wants for nothing. It was bought as a temporary van untill we got a new Iveco, but the Iveco is yet to materialise, and the LDV just keeps plodding on.

However, I was working next to 2 guys from Ford and Slater (DAF dealer) and their Maxus 'service vans' are shocking. just a ply lined van with tools on the floor lol they looked quite envious of our heap (even if they did just want to borrow a compressor) lol

The NHS, of which I'm a member
The wife had a bad chest a week ago and its got worse but she has had to wait two weeks to get a GP appt, so we rang the out of hours emergency docs, as it got really bad and she was having trouble breathing. It's ones of these Private ones that take NHS money and does bugger all. We rang them as it wasn't serious enough to dial 999. The out of hour doc rang back and listened to my wife on the phone and refused to come. He said ring 999, rang 999, a paramedic arrived before the main ambulance. They gave my wife some salbutamol to open here airways a bit and all was fine, main ambulance can only take my wife to a&e to basically get an inhaler which is what we wanted the out of hour GP to do. The ambulance crew rang the out of hour GP doc and they agreed to come out and do prescription niw the ambulance crew have improved things, Once the ambulance crew left to treat a real emergency., the out of hour rang back and asked if my wife could drive herself 4 miles to them to collect an inhaler. Even though they knew she had problem breathing and could crash on the way, they Said otherwise it will take 5 hours to get to us as they are short staffed. F£Cking pi££takers.

On the pulled over subject... Me and 5 other of my mates got pulled within the space of 10 minuetes by 5 different patrols Saturday night, we went to a cruise, decided to come back across the ferry rather than the bridge. Pulled into a petrol station, noticed a man in a car, on the phone, smoking (in the petrol station) didn't think too much on it, went off, we was all staying at 65mph on the dual carrigeway as we knew the police were out there, next thing, I was doing 65 still, police car comes past me (me at the back) and my god he must have been doing a tonne! He pulled in front of the first car (my brother) and 2 more police cars come up behind, pulling over te first three cars, so then me and te 2 others turned off at the next junction after they got pulled, stopped in a bus stop, then he comes pc plod. Pulled us over for no reason, and didn't do us for anything! Just wanted to waste my time!!!! But I was lucky as when I got home I realised I had 3 bold tyres! Lucky!

The traffic units that stopped the others pretty much did an mot on the side of the road! They checked everything! Couldn't find anything wrong!

They have my brother a £30 fine for a 'non standerd exhaust' which we shall now contest as that policeman has no right to class that as non standerd! It wasn't for a loud exhaust as he didn't test it! Again time waster!

Rant over

Obviously there was a reason to pull you over but an inefficient bobby has missed it, tax being wasted again.

correct, unless they were made many many years ago. the lettering underneath only has to be the postcode of the plate supplier, but most places use it as free advertising.

tj. just ignore the woman. i've been ignoring my m-i-l for a very long time..

i offered to financially back her right to buy on her council house a few years back, & in effect become her landlord, till she'd paid off the mortgage, which was very low... like £15k for a large 2 bed house, but she decided not to, cos when she rings the council to fix something, they send a bloke out within a couple of days... and i'm 40 mins drive away & its a decent road, so i'd fix it on the spot....so she & her hubby, who is actually 5 years younger than me, have neither a pot to piss in nor a window to throw it out of, and they have no savings & she is retired, and i offered them a house with about £100k equity for them to play with, and she turned it down.
